One Step Forward, Two Steps Back

I had big plans for my four-day weekend.
Big plans for running.
Big plans for yoga.
Throw in some weight training and maybe a fun new class of some type.
Grocery shopping for healthy food.
Preparation of said food.

Didn't happen.

If you measure success by drinking too much and going on lots of dates, then I had a successful weekend. But if you measure it by doing any of the items listed above, then I failed miserably.

Ok, I exaggerate a bit. I did attempt a horrible 2 mile hung-over run. I was so embarrassed. I talked about running with a new friend, then we go running and I was so hung over I had to walk after 2 miles. I did go to yoga once and got a good 8-miler in on Sunday.

I was definitely not as healthy/active this weekend as I wanted to be. Luckily Anita didn't punish me for it. Holding firm at 134.

  3. geez. If that's 2 steps back, I'm at least 40 steps behind ya. :)

  4. So the weekend was a success! Great job! Hangover runs build toughness.

  5. I can't believe you ran with a hangover! I would never do that! Er, yeah - if I didn't run with hangovers I never would have started running. Sounds like you had fun!

  7. That sounds impressive to me for a holiday weekend. Don't be so hard on yourself. Anita definitely wasn't! :)

  8. A weekend of drinking and dates, and you still got an 8 mile run and yoga in? Sounds fun and successful to me!

  9. I do, in fact, measure success as drinking too much and going on lots of dates. So, congrats!

  10. Your weekend sounds like mine, minus the dates...
Glad Anita was so kind to you!

  15. LOL

I put in at least 16 miles Fri-Monday. Drank moderately. Survived on steamed veg and salads for the most of the weekend (with the exception of the small plate of chips and cheese)... and I gained 3 pounds.

So... how were the dates :-D!!!!!!????????!!!!!

  16. Oh my, sounds fun to me. I hate that when you talk about running and then embarrass yourself. I totally did that last weekend. Planned a 10 miler with a friend and just could.not.hang.

Glad the scale is holding out.

  17. My thoughts on dating and drinking: one cannot date without consuming massive amounts of alcohol. (Especially if they are internet dates!)

I'm with everyone above - I'd DEFINITELY call that weekend a success!!

  18. Sounds like a perfect Memorial Day weekend!!! Hell, you got an 8 miler! That is amazing without the yoga and 2 mile run. I eeked out 6.5 miles hungover and in a too-much-breakfast food coma with a friend who was more hungover... and dehydrated... than me... thankfully. We complained the whole way - we were a collective mess. Awesome!

So, what's on your grocery list? Anything new I should be trying. I looking for some healthier/easy meals/snacks... please share! :)

  21. What's life without a few scattered drinking & date weekends?! Sounds like you did alright to me - yoga and 10 miles... although I know how you feel; it's disappointing when you think how much healthiness you will fit in on a weekend...and then you don't.

  22. Hope you had fun on your dates!! Lets see four days; yoga, an 8 mile run and a 2, sounds like you did just fine.

  23. Drinking lots and going on lots of dates is a sure sign of success :)

Even though you didn't get in the exercise you wanted, it sounds like you had a good weekend, minus the hung-over run, that is.

  24. Okay... I just read "going on lots of dates" and though wha??? Had to go back and reread a couple of posts. Feel like a total heel I missed the part about the Captain's farewell.

Glad to hear you're moving on and (hopefully) enjoying the new boys...

  25. Were the dates repeaters or no??That's the key LOL

  26. Major toughness points for running hungover.

  27. Hangover miles count double. If you puke, you add another mile.

  28. ooo can't wait to hear about the dates!

  29. Try going for a long walk instead of a run if you're hung over- the walking actually helps with the hangover, I've found.

  30. It sounds like a great weekend...even if it resulted in a 2 mile hung over run!

  31. 8 miles is more than anything I did!! I love that your scale has a name - that's great!

  32. Hangovers are typically the inspiration for my longest runs. Because chances are I ate everything my drunk hands could find the night before, so I feel guilty and need to burn it off. Just saying...

  33. Hey - 8 miles isn't bad!

Hope you found a hot new guy to hang out with.
