Perspective

My yoga instructor said something in class the other day that stuck with me.
"Everybody suffers."

This can be related to my workout life. Yes, this might be HARD. If it was easy everyone would be doing it. But it is a temporary suffering for a long-term goal (health).

So I am going to try and be thankful for a little suffering now and then.
I am thankful when I'm exhausted because I know it means that I've worked hard.
I am grateful for sore muscles because it means that my body is getting stronger.
I am thankful for a little fear because it means that I'm pushing myself to do something new.
I can appreciate a little disappointment because it means I have hope.
It's OK when I'm slightly obsessive because it means I have goals.
I am thankful for all of these feelings because it means I am living in the present.

Anyone have anything to add to this?

  1. Oh you're right. I should stop bitching about the GDM and just be thankful I'm pregnant with a healthy baby girl. Fine. You win.

  4. I like the one about being slightly obsessive, since I'm more than a tad obsessive myself. Goal oriented sounds much better :)

  5. This is so true. I try and always remember that EVERYONE is dealing with something hard in their life and it makes it easier to be compassionate.

  19. If I move out, of course you can have my apartment. I'm almost done painting it and shortly will get new carpet, for your enjoyment. You can walk to the beach, grocery store and less then 20 paces to Starbucks. I think you'll like it.

But I have a small favor to ask. Call me. hee hee

  26. That's exactly how I've been feeling lately. Not sure if you have ever read anything by Wayne Dyer but it's pretty good if you are working on just enjoying life and living in the now.
