Losing IT

What happens when you get sick, travel across the country and don't do ANY exercise for about 15 days...

1. You gain weight - surprised? Really, you do.
2. Your entire body aches but it shouldn't.
3. You get grumpy. Real grumpy.
4. You over-react to everything. (Not being able to open a jar of Peperoncini's almost caused a major meltdown.)
5. You snap at everyone.
6. Your favorite radio station turns Spanish. (I know this must somehow be my fault.)
7. You turn so vain you probably think this blog is about you.
8. Depression kicks in. Sticky and not so sweet depression.
9. You have no energy but know you need to do something about this.
10. Bed is your only solace, but you can't even manage to fit that in.

  1. I'm about at the 15 day mark as well! I would say high five but it's more like a low five that shouldn't even take place.

Back in the gym tomorrow! You can do it and so can I!

(Nevermind the very fat smoothie I had with my lunch or the bucket-o-ranch I put on my salad)

    Tomorrow's the day!

  2. Get back in the saddle girlfriend! Wipe your slate clean and start again. Happens to everyone sometimes - just get back in there.

  3. Traveling is the WORST for working out - you have no set schedule (at least not the same one every day) and you can't find a good place for a workout!

Good luck getting back into it... I'm trying to do the same.

  4. I'm sorry you're feeling so craptastic. At least it's warm in sunny SoCal! And you do have very nice makeup, so you're pretty.

Just a little Bikram, one tiny run - you can do it! And then you'll be right back at it.

  5. are you talking about indie 103.1?

ugh. i was and still am pissed about that. i LOVED that station. the dj's and the variety that they played was such a welcome change. it's disgusting that clearchannel didn't recognize that their listeners were devoted and offer better bang for their advertising buck than any of the other pop stations, let alone spanish radio.

sorry about the rant. can you tell i'm still bitter?

you can stream it via the internet and itunes, but it's just not the same without it in the car, ya know?

    r.i.p.

oh, and hope you bounce back quickly.

OH! there are a few of us doing an easy trail run tomorrow morning at 5am. i'll shoot you the details.

  6. Aw, we've all been there. Doesn't mean you can't turn it around and get right back to how things were.

  10. Hey, great blog! I'm in week three of training for my first half-marathon and I've been reading all the running blogs I can :-)

I always feel so gross if I don't fit any exercise in, I feel sluggish and depressed!! Sometimes, it helps to just do a few push-ups or jumping jacks when you get up in the morning! Hopefully you feel better soon :-)

  15. I hear you on all of the above. Luckily you know all it takes is getting out there once and you'll feel some relief...that's the great part about exercise- instant gratification! Hang in there and try to get some rest, too!

  19. Am I the only on that noticed "Cappy" . . . .?

  20. Glad you had a good trip? welcome back? all that booty from the foreign guys sounds like fun? he seems nice? you really got a good tan?

These are the questions we should have answers to. *hugs* for being under the weather. there's something going around here too. But you'll feel better if you get back into that bikram studio for a couple of good sweat sessions. missed you!

  21. Amazes me how my world also gets upset by the lack of exercise, let alone traveling. I've been back to running (after about a month off) for a couple weeks and feel so much better!

As Nike says "Just do it"

  22. Okay here's a little story... maybe it'll help take your mind of things because it is so absurd...

One of my weird childhood memories that always sticks out is riding in the front seat of my mom's car. Carly Simon comes on the radio. My mom says to me "This song is about you."

    Feel better.

  25. I noticed the dangled "cappy" in there too! What are you doing to us POM?! You tease us with this info?

    ReplyDelete
  26. You'll get back on the wagon! Once you do all the depression and grumpiness will go away. It is really hard to workout while traveling.

    ReplyDelete
  27. Time to get back on the horse! This sucks now but when you are back taking a ride you'll be good to go!!

    ReplyDelete
  28. WAIT! Indie 103 went away? I loved that show (although I've never quite forgiven them for firing Dicky Barrett).

Well that is just terrible! I'd be upset, too! (I am upset!)

  29. take care of yourself ... get yourself dressed and go to yoga or go for a 10 minute run ... just getting started is the toughest part.

  30. Feel better soon! I've missed you. Hope you get back in your groove and if not, drinks soon!

  31. Oh no girl. Take care of yourself. If it makes you feel any better, I could write this EXACT post (except for the traveling and spanish radio station part).

  32. Aw. :(
