I feel like I have gained 10lbs just from beer alone this past week!Laurelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08623841732966475396noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-38365142290084433262007-10-23T10:52:00.000-07:002007-10-23T10:52:00.000-07:00Oh my my. It also was nice to relive Long Beach since I did that race a few years ago, only with a much worse experience and outcome.

As for recovery, I think once you feel ready, you can run, just take it easy (you'll see...you won't be able to run hard anyway) and continue doing that until the three-week window is up. Then you can train in earnest again. In the meantime, keep soaking up those awesome-sized mixed drinks!!Annehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04377440606704745517noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-49853086451187398932007-10-19T19:29:00.000-07:002007-10-19T19:29:00.000-07:00I don't think you even need a full 2 weeks off. You don't have to recover for 2 weeks after a 20 miler, right?Jesshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01465800584212530717noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-2858073500685103702007-10-19T18:11:00.000-07:002007-10-19T18:11:00.000-07:00HOLY MOTHER!! I don't know about anyone else but I put NO effort in what I look like before running and if you didn't put any effort in, then I hate you even more :P

Enjoy recovery chica!!! I do a "reverse taper", slowly working up the mileage again as the days and weeks go by, but being careful not to push the limits with workouts that are too stressful. Now's a great time to do yoga, too... really gives those muscles a chance to stretch and heal.

Loved your pictures, by the way! You look mahvelous, dahling.

Keep enjoying your recovery... you certainly deserve it!Tall Girl Runninghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13761665201219457247noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-75533089656242973052007-10-19T12:41:00.000-07:002007-10-19T12:41:00.000-07:00"recovery means drinking wine at night, sleeping i..."recovery means drinking wine at night, sleeping in and being totally lazy."

This is exactly how I like to do 'recovery' too.Ianhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15875001377964050508noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-854621285502992102007-10-19T12:39:00.000-07:002007-10-19T12:39:00.000-07:00Load your ipod with talking instead of music, that...Load your ipod with talking instead of music, that will keep you walking.

...Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-46483113064190980652007-10-19T12:02:00.000-07:002007-10-19T12:02:00.000-07:00My friend had a 5k PR a week after her first marat...My friend had a 5k PR a week after her first marathon. I did a short run two days after my first one. I think it just all depends on how you feel :-) (although I also think recovery is great excuse for relaxing for a bit!)Danielle in Iowa in Irelandhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12274576534281164011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5417535823506217209.post-87141583715529317702007-10-19T11:50:00.000-07:002007-10-19T11:50:00.000-07:00I think there are different schools of thought out...I think there are different schools of thought out on that one. In fact, one of the best things for soreness is doing a slow jog to get all that lactic acid movin. No racing, for sure, but I don't think you have to abstain (but maybe there is something I don't know about!).Nancyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14684236668997938263noreply@blogger.com
