Whoa Is Me

Yesterday afternoon was my first chance to run in over a week.
I set out playing "dodge the tourist" on the beach path in front of the hotels (in Maui).
Here are the digits:
Mile 1: 8:54
Mile 2: 8:45
Mile 3: 8:54 (wow consistent, eh?)
Mile 4: 16:20 (yes, you read that right )
Mile 5: 15:47

As you can tell I pulled a POM move. I haven't run in a while and I got out all gung ho. Of course half way gone and I pull something in my left calf. I've done this before. More than once. Same calf too. If I take too long of a break and go out like a banshee, I pull something in this stupid calf. You'd think I will eventually learn.

I just hope it heals up quick because if I ever get home I need to commence this so-called marathon training.

Still waiting for this big hurricane to hit. It's been down graded to a tropical storm. I've seen plenty of winds and a bit of sprinkles of rain, but that's it so far. We had to reschedule all the group events. I guess it's better to be safe than sorry, as THEY say.

I'll finally be heading home in 5 more days. I packed 17 pairs of undies. I have 5 left. I guess I'm a good planner in that aspect. I feel like I've been gone forever. I wonder when the anxiety will hit. The anxiety about what I am going home to.
Relationship-wise... nothing.
Work-wise...nothing.
Why am I so eager to get home?

I'm sorry about your calf. And all the stuff that's not waiting for you at home. I'd like to offer some nice platitudes, but those are lame & piss me off when people offer them to me.

Sending you far-off hugs!

I hope your calf is better soon. Injuries suck.

Even when you don't have anything exciting to return to, it always feels good to be home...

What happened w/ the loadmaster?

Home is always home, no matter what crap may await. But enjoy Maui to the fullest -- oh my jealousy knows no bounds!!! :)

Realtionship-wise... nothing?! Don't tell me the blog turned out to be a factor in that.

It wasn't the blog, as far as I know. Just the typical usual male-fear-of-relationship-freak-out. That's a lot of dashes.

Loadmaster, if you're reading this...not cool!! You'd think men get over a fear of relationships after a while. But NO. Bah.

I hope you feel better. Keep on running...and wait, what happened to work?

Hope your calf feels better. I am sure once you can really get back to a routine you'll be fine. Hang in there.

Safe travels!

P.S. I'm not sure I even own 17 pairs of underwear anymore. I just went through and tossed a bunch that well, needed to be tossed =).
