MeMe Time

Thank goodness I was tagged by Sorta Single Mom because I have nothing to write about today. I ran 4 miles this morning - I was supposed to do Farteks, but I didn't for 2 reasons.
1. I drank too much wine last night
2. All day at work my knee was doing this weird sparky, twingy thing. I didn't hurt when I was running, but I have never experienced that. Anyone know what I'm talking about and what it could be?

Back to the MEME. 6 Random Things... you know how it works. So here goes:

1. My dream in life is to be a SAHM. My biological clock is ticking so freakin' loud that it keeps the neighbors awake at night. I never believed in that stuff and thought I would live a fulfilled life as a sexy business woman with lots of lovers, traveling the world, etc. Well, I changed. All I want now is husband, couple of kids and house in the burbs.

2. Fast food really creeps me out and I have not eaten it in over 2 years. I used to eat it probably 5 to 6 times a week- maybe more (breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks). I was on a plane recently and some jack-hole sat down next to me eating McDonald's. I had to breath out of my mouth for fear that the smell was going to make me HURL on him. Argh, it's just so disgusting.

3. I love to clean out and organize my closet. I do it every couple of months. I love to get rid of things: It's cleansing and therapeutic. I've never been one to keep something for sentimental reasons, except photos and jewelry. I have my great, great grandmother's wedding ring. I used to have my parents wedding rings, but my sister took them. Brat.

4. I have weird taste in movies. Typically I steer clear of big block buster films. Smaller, quirky films are more my style. I love Documentaries and Foreigns! I HATE action movies and can't pay attention to them for more than 2 mins. Feel free to drop me movie suggestions when you see something off the wall that you think I might like.

5. I have a difficult time keeping my opinions to myself. I can be harsh and not even realize it. Sometimes I accidentally hurt people feelings, but honesty is important to me. I'm working on being more sensitive.

6. I'm always hungry. Oh yeah, you guys already know this.

You can TAG yourself if you need something to write about....

Your #1 - I feel like whatever we have, we want the opposite of it. I live in the suburbs but I want to live in a city. I'm about to start a family but I still want to go out and party since I skipped a few years (or the last 8) being too healthy and uptight about working out and eating, and not going out enough. Kudos on the fast food. I don't even know when I ate that shit last. Oh, and I just say what I think for #5, then I feel very guilty afterwards. Working on that one too.

I am SO with you on the fast food thing. The hub and I gave it up for a New Year's resolution in 2006 and... it just stuck.

So... did you see the movie Once? Highly recommend it!!

Alisa said...

I second the recommendation for Once, that movie was awesome! I'm sure you already saw this one but if you haven't seen "Pans Labyrinth"--see it! (It's a foreign film.)

Gosh, you and I could not be more opposite on #1, I want the hubby to be a SAHD =).

Yay, to cleaning out the closet to make room for new stuff =).

#1 you'll get over REAL quick when you're there :P LOL JK! The grass is always greener ;-) Just like everything else, there are pros and cons to it.

I like to do #3 as well. It always feel soooo nice to get the junk out.

Great list. Learned a few new things about you!

He he, I never wanted to be a SAHM mom, either, or even have kids for that matter- too burned out babysitting my own sibs at a young age. But as I've gotten older and learned to appreciate family, I hope that someday I can quit my job and stay at home. I've got the husband so far, and we're trying on the kids part, but I'll probably have to keep working for a while until the Hubs makes more money, or he wins the MegaBucks.

Good for you on the fast food. I prefer not to eat it, but every once in a while is okay.

On movies, I agree with Pan's Labyrinth- very cool Spanish movie with sub-titles. I would also recommend The Orphanage, another spooky movie done by the same people as PL.

I don't love to organize my closet, but I love to have an organized closet. I'm OCD that way. All my hangers are the same color, and the clothes face the same direction, and they go in color-coordinated order. All of my drawers are similarly arranged (even bras and socks). I won't even get started on my kitchen cupboards...

BTW, I noticed on your side bar that you're weight is 130- way to go!! See, that 2 pounds couldn't stick around long, when you're running like 90 miles a week. It pays to get your sleep.

Although I have been known to eat fast food from time to time....it drives me nuts on airplanes when people bring food on board...and you are stuck in a tiny confined space having to smell it!! I'm right there with you on #1.

I like these kind of posts where you learn and share random odd things. I too am an organizer and thrower-outer. But my closet could use some work.

I love being a SAHM. When its your time you will too. or even a working mom. maybe you can work from home and have both.

Fast food sucks. YUCK. I don't know how people can eat it.

you can come clean my closet anytime. Right now you cant get past the door and its a walk in.

I like independent films like Dirty Dancing. LOL

My husband has the whole open mouth insert foot. I'm quite sure its worse than your voice your opinion. It has to be. I've never met a man who forgets who he's talking to so he'll say anything like my man. He's working on it to and it seems to be improving.

love your list. Its perfect and I learned a little about the P.O.M.

I am with you on #2. I haven't had fast food in nearly a year and just thinking about Micky D's grosses me out. Taco Hall, on the other hadn, is hard for me to resist when I'm drunk.

fast food really creeps you out? what about the healthy options?

and i would love to be a sahm, although i'm afraid i'd be bored. but of course i wouldn't be, because taking care of your own children would be so fulfilling. and i wouldn't want someone else to do it.

LMAO at the Me's! That is why I like reading your blog so much. You keep it real *fist pump*

My kid is driving me loca today@ Looking forward to a drink tonight. Trade ya for a couple days. I understand you though. Being a SAHM does have a sweet benefits package at times.

Hey, you can come clean out my closet any day! Mind is a disaster zone and sometimes I think I must shut the doors just to keep anything else from falling out, LOL.

I was tagged to do this meme by TinaGirl too but have yet to figure out what to write ...

Have you ever seen Juno?? I just saw it yesterday and although the music was a little off-kilter, the story line and the whole indie-fun of it all was just super keen.

My fav foriegn film is Delicatessen. It just has this strange "wtf" factor that kept me laughing through the entire "horror" flick.

Sensitive? Meh, I'm sure blogland agree, you're just as fun when you're brutal ;-).

Great meme!

Oh, and about Mc-D's... the last time I went there I thought I would get one of those apple salad things.

Let's just say that it was so chocked loaded full of preservatives that bugs wouldn't even SIT on it. I kept it in my desk drawer for THREE DAYS and the apples never browned.

There is no such thing as "healthy options" at Mc-D's. Peace ;-).

i love fast food when i am drunk (esp TB) but thats it... otherwise it just makes me feel sick and gross. there are plenty of other things i would rather eat.

i wish i could throw away things, i tend to hold onto everyhing... but i do like to oragnize my closet every so often... it just makes me feel better about everything.

i am ALWAYS hungry, always always :)

I'm delurking...mainly because I ate fast food last night. Just wanted you to know. (snarky? nooooo)

I loved the movie Once. Oh-so-awesome.

I also love to organize! I read your blog to keep my motivated in my running. You'd be amazed at how often you get me in my running shoes. So...thanks!

Ok, here is the dealio...let's just swap lives for one week! Just one week is all I ask..I mean you ask. You will love the life in the burbs...or not.

What Marcy said about the grass being greener. SIGH

I jump back and forth on #1. One day I want to keep living the party life with no kids/responsibilities and then the next week I want a husband and kids. Go figure.

Great thoughts you shared here. I agree, honesty is the best policy and sometimes the truth can sting a little.

Crazy. I just got back from having a conversation about #1 with a really good friend (who incidentally lives in Portland and is running the Portland Marathon too). Perhaps it's the joy of being a woman of a certain age...

How's your knee feeling? Ice it if you're not sure what to do...

I just heard from someone that when I met him 9 months ago, I had a big #5 problem. Well, I didn't see it as a problem, because I didn't realize he thought I was being harsh. I thought I was just being my typical smart-ass self. Whoops.

ok i'm with you on 3 and 5 - but what made you get grossed out by food? I wanna know!!

Heather said...

I can't believe #1 -- then again, i haven't had the baby yet, so maybe I'll feel the same way afterwards.

Nice list! Does your fast food aversion include In-N-Out? Cause that's some good stuff.

The Laminator said...

Totally enjoyed your list, POM! I can relate to #2, #3, #4 and sometimes #6, depending on where I am in my training and what edible objects are next to me.

Laura N said...

Shocked at #1! But I totally understand the biological clock. I was the exact same way in my late 20s/early 30s. I'd be around our friends's kids and would hog the babies...wouldn't let anyone else hold them. I think the perfect combination is kids w/part time work. But, you'll find what works for you when the time is right.

Movie suggestion--have you seen Waitress? So good.

Amy said...

You and I share the same #1... I think many people, including my own mother would be shocked to hear me say that.... oh, and #3 - my clothes are organized by category, then by color. All hangers must be identical too.

re: comment left on my blog (Hard Rock) - nice!!!!! And I'm sure it'll be well worth telling what's his face 'no' next time he calls.
