In all actuality, I'm very, very bummed that I have to OPT out this Thursday. Considering that I have a lot pain just walking, I don't think I will be able to run a 10K. As much as I would like to try, The Captain (and my Physical Therapist) think I should sit this one out. But really, what do they know? I feel extra shitty about it because I raised money and my wonderful friends and family donated and I'm not running. I know the money still goes to the Food Bank, but I feel like I need to run to earn it. And I know I'm going to eat like a horse, so I wish I could burn a few calories before diving in head first into a vat of stuffing.
Good luck to everyone else running.

Drool... a vat of stuffing.
Hi POM, stumbled over your blog, thought I should comment and say hi... so, "hi!"
Sorry about you not being able to run in the race! I'm sure you've been told this, but letting yourself rest is probably the quickest way to getting better! Sucks but its true. Once upon a time I had to learn the hard way - and couldn't run for 3 months. Don't let that happen to you!!
Sorry to hear you are not able to run. I'm not going to run it now either but never got around to signing up. I hope you have a speedy recovery and a happy turkey day!
Take your time - it'll come back to you. Re. money raised - it's never wasted when it's for a good cause. Finally - re weightloss. I'm joining WW tomorrow morning. Enough is enough. My mouth is trough..
Hmmmmmm I was thinking I'd sang it from you but then I read the requirements would be "Look really good in the pictures" ROFLMAO yeah that never happens while running.
Bummer chica!!
ooo, sorry you are having so much pain. That sucks. I can't run that fast or I would buy it. :D
I doubt anyone will fault you for raising money for a good cause and not running because you are injured.
I don't think anyone will get pissed that their money is going to FEED HOMELESS PEOPLE ON THANKSGIVING if you're not running. Most people will still be ok with it ;)
I hate that you can't do the Trot. I feel like we are living parallel lives here. I was going to do the 10K on Thursday too, but can't because of my gimp knees. Just when I needed the calorie burning the most too.
Screw it, bring on the wine and mashed potatoes!
Sorry your not feeling great. Nurse your injuries with pumpkin pie and vino, instead!
That really sucks that you'll have to sit it out. I'd run it for you but believe it or not I have plans on Thanksgiving. Stupid In-Laws.
Does one wear a helmet when diving head first? Just wondering. It could double as a scoop in this case, yes?
I hope you feel better soon! At least you can still enjoy Turkey!
If I wasn't all the way up in Portland I'd run it for you...minus the part where it has to be 9 minute miles! =)
The sooner you quit running with your injury, the sooner it will heal.....
I can't wait for my mom's stuffing!
RATS! So sorry you have to drop out of the race because you are injured. At least you are smarter than me and actually dropping out of the race. So far I've showed up injured for the start of 2 marathons. Much pain followed, and not much running happened for the next month. And yet I did exactly the same thing 6 months later. Thank goodness being funny sometimes compensates for being intelligent! You are lucky that The Captain wants to protect you from yourself. Mr Diva would be telling me that I paid the entry fee so I better run the race :D
Trust me, opting out when you're injured is much smarter than attempting to run a race when you hurt. You're taking the wiser, braver road.
i'm not turkey trotting this year either. stupid knees, hip...grumble grumble grumble
I'm so sorry to hear you're ailing. Here's keeping my fingers crossed that your PT exercises will get you back in the saddle sooner rather than later. (And here's another plug for water running if it's available to you: I ran 12 miles on Sunday and was SOOOO creaky on Monday. But after limbering up in a hydrofit class, I was (almost) as good as new!)
I'll do it, but would need a ride from South Carolina. I'll even wear the shirt in the race. :-)
Smart to pull out of it, though. Injuries rarely get better during races.
It can't really be considered a DNF if you never started, right?
Sorry, can't help you out. I'm still limpnig along on the Couch to 5k podcast!
Stay off the leg! The money will still go to a great cause and you can recover and eat your stuffing!
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Sorry, about your 5K getting sidelined. I am sitting out my 5miler on Thanksgiving. I never thought about selling it..LOL!
Have a great Thanksgiving.
Maybe next year I will be up to running a 10k... but not a chance this year! sorry!
BUT.. I will take you up on the trip to Paris to miss the holidays all together!!! Mind if I bring the kids?? LOL
OK.. so that wouldn't be all that fun, but 5 years ago I would have seriously taken you up on it!!
Hope your pain goes away soon.. Happy Thanksgiving.
PS.. it was the thought that counted!!
Man, if I could run that fast, I'd be there in a second. My trot had to get canceled this year, too. It's on Saturday and I chose high school football over running :X
I have to opt out tomorrow, too. I'm just too sick. Blah.
HILARIOUS
Fantastic idea! Why didn't I think of this. LOL
Bummer!! Great idea though. Would love to if you were closer!
