STREEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

Amy asked in her blog what you do to deal with stress. This tends to be the season for stress. I don't know what it is -families, money, work, New Years goals... whatever it is, a lot of people seem to get the blues.

Some people do weird things to cope. When I was a kid, I would bang my head against the wall and blame it on my imaginary friend Ta Da. As a teenager, I would punch holes in my wall (I was a really pleasant teenager). College age, I drank and smoked.

Since I love food so much, I automatically assumed that I would eat like a big fat cow when stress really hit. Well, this weekend I tested that theory (unintentionally).

I had an emotional weekend and I learned that I DON'T EAT when I'm stressed. And if I can stomach anything, I usually end up throwing it up. I never knew this about myself or maybe I haven't been this emotional in a long time. Even weirder still is that I went to the market and bought a ton of food, but didn't eat it. The good part is that I dropped 4 lbs! I know it will probably come back - but I'm at 140 right now. Only 5 lbs away from my goal!

But the best way to deal with stress is to run. It clears your mind and makes your body feel great. So, that's what I did...

I ran.
I ran Saturday 3.5 miles and Sunday 4.2 miles
WITH NO PAIN!!!!

The runner girl is back! So the question is... will I be able to get up to speed to do a half marathon in 6 weeks??
I think I can. Strike that.
I know I can.

I always sing that song out loud when it comes on the ipod. It pumps me UP! That and strangely, ChumbaWumba.

Yay on the running! I'm waving my pom poms!

OMGosh! I was a wall-punching teenager too. My mother loved me to bits :P

Awesome job on the run! I have no doubt you will be half-mary ready in 6 weeks :)

I don't always eat when I am stressed either. In fact, when I am stressed (at work mostly)... I will oftentimes go the whole day without going to the bathroom as I am super busy and doing 10 things at onces. It's a super bad habit and was noticing the side effects of that last thursday. ouch.

What's even more stressful is when I am not able to get my workouts in like I would like (because I am too busy with other sh*t).

definitely a lose lose sitation.

Don't call it a comeback, you've been here for years...

I know you can be ready in 6 weeks. You have running skillz.

I too am not a stress eater. While the stress is, well... stressful, but at least my jeans fit :-)

Congrats on the target weight, be careful about that head banging though...all the plaster dust in your hair can pile on the ounces!

As for the half...POC4POM (piece of cake), right!

I agree, running is a great stress reliever. I must say I've only been so upset I couldn't eat and that was the one time I thought my fiance and I might call it quits. Otherwise...mmm feed me.

I don't eat either when I'm stressed -- I lose my appetite. Which is probably why the unhappiest years of my life, I was the thinnest.

Good luck with the next 6 weeks of training -- you can DO it!

I totally eat when I am stressed! That is why I was the heaviest in college and when I started my career. Now I just drink coffee.

I only don't eat when I am sad.
Great news on running without pain. Looking forward to your reaching that 1/2 goal in 6 weeks.
