Since this is a running website, I guess I should update ya'alls on my running. Well, it's been lacking. I have been doing the bare minimum to get by. But I'm totally blaming my lazy weekend on the fires. It was smokey and gross on Saturday and Sunday so I didn't run. But I'm getting in 4 to 5 miles every other day (kinda) so I'm ok. I will bump it up to 8 this weekend. I haven't been taking my Garmin with me. I'm trying to just run for the fun of it.
So something I am going to change (actually change BACK to) is that I am going to talk about DATING and BOYS and all that crap again. This does not pertain to the Captain because he is off limits, but anyone else who crosses my path is free game for discussion.
The first in the discussion in the 'short fireman.'
History 101: Short fireman and I went to JUNIOR high together. Then both of our families moved in 9th grade - get this- to the same town. So we ended up going to high school together too. We were always friends, sometimes we flirted, but I had a boyfriend all throughout high school. After HS, I moved again to where I am now. He had some friends in the area, so we met up once or twice and went out as a group. One of those night he kissed me goodnight. But that was that. We stopped talking. I just wasn't into him. We bumped into each other again at my 10 year reunion (2003). That was the last I saw of him.
Flash forward to a month ago. My sister was in Palm Springs for a bachelorette party. She was at the pool and was spotted by the short fireman. He came over to her to say "hi" and introduced my sister to his friends as "the sister of the love of his life." He went on about how I am the one that got away.
WTF?
Why is it that I'm rarely into the ones that are into me?

That is ALWAYS the way things work out with guys. At least with me anyway.
Glad to hear you're still running and in better spirits. Keep on keeping on.
Good luck with the running. it's tough to run when there's that much fire, and the news says the whole region is feeling the damage. I was actually thinking about you while watching the story.
I also want to share a dating theory that worked for me. I've been married for 10 years now, so it's an old theory. But I would ask out everyone I met on a date. No discremination based on physical appearance. as long as they were female, available, and open to being asked out (as in not currently crying) I was going to test the waters.
Everyone has a mother who loves them. I was willing to give anyone one dinner or other date to see if i could figure out why. I had about a 70% acceptance rate. only about 20% got a second date. But 4 months later I met my wife. And at the time I had a blast getting to know so many other people. So don't be afraid to give that a shot. It will at least make for some good blog fodder.
haha! isn't it funny how that happens? but hey- you can't force yourself to feel something. since you mention his being short, is that what bothered you? I am tall, and could never date anyone shorter. I just couldn't bring myself to do it. I know it's shallow...but I just can't!
but he's a fireman...:PThat's all I need to hear..
Just kidding. You can't force anything, right?
Good luck getting back into your running!
Ooooh boy. I love the dating stories. :)
Same story, girl. I like to say that I feel like Carrie Fisher's character in When Harry Met Sally. She's obsessed with someone who is unavailable - UNTIL she meets Jess. We're just waiting to meet our Jess's. In the meantime - we make silly choices. Like how I hooked up with the co-worker last night. Yep. I'm tramping myself out these days. And I won't be posting about that - my mom reads my blog!
Running for the fun of it is not a bad thing. Enjoy that.
Agreeing with Nitmos, running for fun is just that! Now on the boys, I say just have fun for now and if you arne't in to him..well enjoy a free dinner or drink and keep on movin
Yay for boy talk!! So glad to hear that things are going better, even if they're not great.
Glad that you are able to run some, but I feel your pain on the smokey-fire thing. We've had that here before, and it's rough.
How crazy about short fireman! But sometimes you just don't feel it. Some things can't be forced.
I love other people's dating stories, since I have none of my own (the architect, for some reason, disapproves).
Sorry 'bout the fires. I remember how much that can suck.
and it never occurred to me that we/I could be someone else's one who got away...I was always too busy chasing the ones trying to get away from me.
Glad to hear you are doing better, and I totally know about the guys who are RANDOM... ha ha I'm glad you be keeping us all updated with your life. :)
Dude, really, any man that verbalizes that in public might very well achieve the highest level of "pathetic" I've ever been of witness to.
Of course, that's probably why I'm single ;-)
You never know what fate will bring you. Speaking of people from the past. There was a guy I knew from Sunday School, church, high school, college, and we were always friendly but not even real "friends" and certainly no one had crushes on the other. After college we went separate ways. But a few months ago our paths crossed again (at a reunion, for heaven's sake), we started emailing and got together, and it's been nothing but great. With our shared history it's like we've been together forever, but the feelings are totally new. 25, 10, or even 5 years ago this couldn't have happened for us (at least it didn't), but somehow fate, or God, has brought us together. (I also say that Obama brought us together, but that's another story.) Oh yeah, and running just for the fun of it is great too. :)
Wow- that's so crazy that you've seen him after all that time. And isn't that just so frustrating??
Doesn't it make you wonder how many other guys feel that way about you?
Because we always want what we can't have.
At least we've moved from yuk to annoying!
Running for the fun of it is great to do...remind me to do that some time.
Yaa, about bring the boy talk back in cause you are way better than "The Hills". just kidding
I like different peoples theories. I am going to write a book with all that and get rich.
You never know, is what I always say about guys that cross your path in life. They could be the "one" or the starter "one".
Good question!
I am also from the class of 1993.
Boys are annoying but so delicious...I never wanted the ones who wanted me...only after I found Ken and he had the perfect balance of wanting to be with me but in his own space!!!
Its so fun too to hear about other relationship stories.....you are brave and fearless to share with us...here's what bears asking, if you ran into "short fireman" now would you want him???
Isn't that the way it always is??? Glad to hear that you're back on track! I'm seriously in need of "getting back on track"...soon, hopefully!
I always want the ones I shouldn't want - why does it work like that?
Oh thank GOD we can discuss boys again. What a relief!!!
I was ALWAYS liking the boys that treated me crappy or weren't into me. Then I met Pete and something was different with him.
I LOVE the dating stories -- your guy is out there.
HA, isn't that always the way?
Glad you are feeling better and getting out there for a few runs.
I graduated in 93 too!
Ooh, I love to live vicariously through other people's love life! Good for you for getting out there. :o)
Wow. That's quite the statement. Go you. Sorry you don't seem to feel the same way, it'd be a cute story to tell the grandkids. But! That's not a reason to go get 'em. Best of luck!
lol. I had a friend from highschool who told my date to my 10 year reunion the same thing about me...that i was the love of his life. I thought that was awkward.
It always seems to end up that way. Hang in there! And keep running!!
Isn't that always the way??? Sigh...
