Ode to the Rain

Rain, rain is finally here.
It only comes a few times a year.
Grab your blankies, scarves and gloves
Snuggle up with someone you loves.

California drivers, don't get so manic.
Leave for work early, you don't have to panic.
New casters announce "Storm Watch 08"
It's just a few sprinkles; give me a break.

I love the beach when it's raining outside.
All the tourists are gone, there's no need to hide.
My street always floods; my apartment tends to leak,
A price I will pay, for the empty beach that I seek.

My running gear is not up to season.
Time to go shopping, any little reason.
Don't mind running when it's just a little wet,
but at 5:30 am, I might change my mind just yet.

Oh I love poems that rhyme! :-) And I usually love rain, except when it interferes with my running!

Hilarious! I'm from Boston originally but lived in San Luis Obispo for four years and I remember how crazy everyone gets in CA when it gets a little wet! PS- you've inspired me! Reading from the beginning of your blog and seeing the improvements you've seen in such a short time I am up-ing the ante on my marathon goals...won't say yet but aiming for much faster than I originally thought possible. :)

love it!

i was out there this morning at 5:30, too. tried to do a trail run in el moro but it was way too slick to get up and down the hills. opted to run down newport coast and back up instead.

gotta love california when it rains.

It is always time to go shopping... :-D

But it takes some serious dedication to go out in the rain at 5:30 in the morning...

P.O.M., love the poem.
I too need to shop for new "winter running gear"
and this rain shower has sure made that clear.
The husband loved (er drooled over)your halloween costume
No time today to shop for me (to look like you) this afternoon.
Your "girls" looked great!
He asked if they were FAKE.
Men are well... men
but if I were him I'd give you a 10!

Love the poem! It's always amazing to see how people freak out with some rain; c'mon people, unless you're made of sugar or are wicked, you'll be fine!

Hawt,and a poet too :-)

Hope you find some great stuff shopping.

OK let it rain now, get it out of it's system. I hope it is not one of those SoCal rare monsoons for Surf City marathon weekend, because my hair will look terrible. Yes, that weekend is all about my hair.

Yea, well post baby/now mommy work has mine done too. But I'm not as brave as you. I have stretch marks and post mommy blahhh to work through. I thought the running would help. LOL. Nothing is going to make this tummy skin tight and cute again. My boobs? Hot hot hot... my only highlight and they were bought.

This is great.

Crazy thing about OR...it rains all the freakin' time here and the drivers are still manic! I don't get it. Shouldn't they be used it to by now?

Also, what OR newscasters call light drizzle is like a monsoon for my California blood.

LOL! You are a regular Robert Frost...or Dr. Seuss. Haha! I love it!

It reminds me of Florida. Ugh, I hated the rainy season there. People are such bad drivers!
