Not Without My...

Say, you're shipped away to a deserted **insert your favorite running spot here** wearing only your favorite running shoes and shorts (& sports bra if you're a chick).
If you could take only ONE other running-related item with you what would be? Why?

I hate to run without my HAT.
Yep, hat.
You guys probably thought it would be more glamorous, huh? Well, it's not.
Without my hat, I cannot run. I have these wispy long bangs that go berserk if not smothered down by a fancy schmancy running hat. They drive me so nutso that I would probably not run sans hat. Really. I'm that crazy about this.

I actually forgot my hat when I ran Santa Ynez Half Marathon and THANK my lucky stars that my granny goose bought me one at the expo. She rocks like that. Grandpa Snook would have had me just wear "one of the many hats in his garage." Uhm. He is adorable, but sometimes doesn't get it.

So, what would your ONE item be???

This mornings digits:
Miles: 5
Time: 43:46
Pace: 8:45

Last my lassies, I think I am going to stop talking about boys/men on this blog for a while. I'm sure it won't take long to get back to boys/dating talk, but I need to learn to keep some stuff personal. I sorta have an issue with that. (But first... the big, buff, brown tattoo hot yoga guy has a name. And he knows mine. That is all. No more boy talk. Stating now.)

my timex watch, because I am obsessed with timing my splits.

I, too, have wispy hair that gets in my eyes. Maybe I should look into the hat idea.

I was going to say iPod, but then I saw hat. I am agreeing with you on the hat! I have bangs that drive me NUTS when I run and always wear a heat when I run outside. In the basement on the treadmill I wear a really geeky headband, but that is not for the eyes of strangers. It is especially ugly!

I'll have to say my Garmin. I've become dependant on it.

My heart rate monitor. I seriously think I would give myself a heart attack without that thing telling me to slow the f*@% down!!

Yes... I have pacing problems...

Can I say a topless Matthew McConaughey?

I always wear a hat, too, for the same reason! At the gym, I can wear little clips to keep my bangs back, but in running, those things would fall out in a second.

Good idea- I need a shirt definitely, I always get a rash if I don't wear one. Next would be my ipod. I like the hat idea. Great job on the run - it was a fast one!

My RoadID, so when I fall over dead, they'll know who to call........

Is water an "assumed" factor on this rhetorical run? :-) Or am I allowed to wear a shirt this go-around?

ok you can't stop talking about boys! no way! :) and yeah i can't workout without my hat- too many freaking layers.

I would have to have my iPod with me, fo sho!

You can't stop talking about boys... that's not your nature! :)

I can't decide between my polar and my ipod...please don't make me decide!

I'm going with my iPod because my runs without it have been too eerily quiet and I hear my heavy breathing. I'm actually in a no watch zone right now which feels pretty liberating. Listening to my body! It's...hard!

I'd have to my iPOD, as long as my hair was either already pulled back, if not, it'd have to be a bandana, fo sho.

I like a watch. But a hat is a great idea- so so useful.

My Ironman Timex w/heart monitor... I am obsessed with timing myself and timed hill intervals....

Hat. Definitely a hat.

i honestly don't know if i can pick one... if i am in shorts on an island i dont know if i could run without bodyglide!!!

but the garmin and hat/visor are right there too :)

I would be inclined to say either the Garmin or my iPod, but if I'm on a desert island, then they would eventually run out of power, so I don't know if they would be very practical to take along.

Geez...I don't know!

Ipod dude. Cannot work out without it.

I like my Garmin, but I can't live without my iPod! PLEASE don't take that away from me!

My Oakley's. My eyes are so sensitive to light, even a tad bit of sun makes me squint. (Plus, I like to think it makes me look like a really good, fast runner).

Hmmm... can't wait to hear more about hot, tattoo guy...

Sarah said...

My desire to attract hot island guy?

Also - you can't stop the boy talk. Boy talk and running go hand in hand!!

Amy said...

Hands down, without a doubt it would have to be my iPod. There is no way I can workout without music. If it were just me, I'd annoy the crap out of myself and be bored to death.

*Completely understandable about the boy/man convo interruptus. Sometimes it can feel like you've exposed yourself too much. But you know we'll all be awaiting anxiously for the topic to head back to Boys Town!

Lip balm. If I even *think* my lips are chapped I'm distracted into oblivion. It's bad. Really really bad.

hmm...well assuming I have the neccessities (ie. gels, water, sour patch kids) I'd have to say ipod.

I can't be alone with myself for that long.

On the plus side, I think it'd be good to be stranded without my t-shirt...tis my goal to run in just a bra top anyways.

Nike+ i-pod thingymajig ... and of course a laptop to download it to ... and an internet connection ... that'll do :)

I am pretty boring

my watch... nothing special, just a plain ol watch with a lap timer.

A paper towel to wipe away the sweat and use as a backup wipe should there be no toilet paper when it's time to go.

Kevin said...

For me, it would have to be my sunglasses. Electronics (ipod, garmin) would die off, and I dont think Id want to be wearing a watch. Why would I want to know what day/time it is if I am stranded. I think that would drive me crazy

I'm so sad, I love the Aggressor talks!! lol...He's so sad, yet entertaining & girl like in his begging.

I must say you must really be good at ..... lmao

anyway......i would need a NEVER dying (assuming no plugs on the stranded island) ipod/camera/phone.

Stuart said...

Hmmm. Oakleys or visor...ok so howabout I am wearing my Oakleys when you ask and then I choose my visor, does that count only as one?

Marcy said...

Man this is a toughy. Because I sweat like a mo-foer I'd have to say either a Head Sweat Visor or Bondi Band, but what I'd REALLY want is my mp3 player LOL

M*J*C said...

I am torn between the IPOD and the Garmin....gonna have to go with the IPOD. I also ALWAYS run with a headband on, I love it!
As for the "no boy talk", I'll respect your decision but must say that I am completely against it! Maybe it's because I feel like I can totally relate to your stories, and they totally crack me up! You have a great perspective on things...it's good stuff to share.

bah! I like boy talk!

And I would totally have to take my garmin, I have a bit of OCD and have to know statistics lol.

Alisa said...

My garmin...even though it sometimes poops out on me in the middle of my runs but I'm addicted to knowing my pace, distance and, of course, calories burned =).

RooBabs said...

My iPod- but only because I have the Nike+ iPod kit. But like Sub6, if I don't have a computer and internet to upload my data, and charge the iPod, it's not as useful. But the comments from Lance Armstrong, Tiger Woods and Joan Benoit-Samuelson are pretty motivating, plus it would feel like I wasn't so alone, so I guess it would still be my iPod. If not, then maybe a piece of paper and a pen or pencil so I could write down how many laps I had done around the island to track my progress- haha.

Boy talk hiatus? Hmmmph. Well, I guess we'll just have to make do with running talk. But please throw in funny stories now and then- like the grandpa trucker hat- LOL. Love that one.

Susan said...

Personally, I enjoy the boy talk!

I need my Garmin -- and a shirt!

Nancy said...

Just the lipstick :D

J~Mom said...

My tissue. I hate when my nose runs when running and I refuse to wipe on my clothes. LOL

Hmm, well, essentials, shorts that cover my chubby legs so I don't get chaffed, lol. But my hat is a top priority too. Hair flailing all around drives me nuts and it also keeps the sweat from going in my eyes.
