Weekend Recap

Happy Monday
So, in case any of you are wondering, the hodgepodge Halloween costume ended up being a school girl. I know it's totally cliche, but I didn't have to buy anything. And I realize some "items" look out of proportion in this pic. I've been sworn to not reveal Victoria's secret.
.
Feeling insecure and sucking in the tummy all night, I asked the Cap how I looked. "Your body is better than a 20 year olds." He scored some major brownie points with that one.
The rest of the weekend was fun and mellow.
.
I managed to get a 6 miler in on Sunday in the RAIN. Yes, you read that right - it finally rained here in sunny So Cal. But it was a warm rain, I still wore my tank and shorts. And, of course the rain stopped right when I got home. I didn't mind though. I always feel so bad ass running in the rain (and it's a lot better than the wind). I even took Big G on the run - I haven't run with him since the marathon. My time wasn't too bad. 6 miles = 50 mins = 8:20 average. I'll take it!
.
Now that it's November, it's time to get re-focused. I want to work on being consistent again. And get back to yoga. I know I keep saying that. I don't know what's holding me back.

Hodgepodge

I have some random stuff to share today:

  • Halloween. So yeah, it's TODAY. And this morning I thought to myself, "well, self, you better figure out what the hiz-ell you're gonna wear today. In my closet I have the following items (don't ask why): Devil horns, angel wings, skimpy 60s outfit (but not boots), black pleather shiny pants, 70s shirt (but no pants), cowboy hats, A Sari (but I don't know how to put it on- very confusing), pink wig, colored boa and a pink ladies jacket. Basically - a bunch of crap but nothing that will create a full outfit. So I am just going to be a school girl. I KNOW - totally cliche and stupid - but it's easy and I don't have to buy anything. And I have a feeling we are only going to go out for an hour or so because the Captain has to ship out early tomorrow.

  • Running. I went for a nice 5-er this morning and totally loved it. Since the marathon I have been inconsistent and just trying to get out there. I gave myself until November 1 to be a slacker. After the run this morning, I decided that I'm totally ready to get out there again.

  • Yoga. What? I still haven't been back to Bikram. I miss it like crazy on so many levels. I have been hesitant because my rib/back thing is still wacky. I know I will push myself in yoga and possibly make it worse. My doc wants me to get ex-rays, but I've been lazy about that too. Maybe I will try this weekend if my friend Dr. Dev talks me into it. I guess I should commit to going next week and just get it back into my routine.

So, that's all I have for ya today.

Electric Boogaloo

Do you remember what you were up to in 1984?

I do.

I was out on the front lawn
dancing with my best friend.

We had mad skillz.

Traditonally trained in tap, ballet and jazz,
we were so good, the older boys on the street asked if we wanted to be in their crew.
Yeah, that’s right.
The Flintstone Lane Crew wanted us for our hot dance moves
(or because my best friend had a kick ass ghetto blaster.)

Well, whatever the reason, we were in.

The combination of the boys’ pop-lock moves and our jazz moves made us serious contenders for anyone who wanted to battle. There was some trash talkin’ coming from Prescott Lane. And there is only one thing we could do about it. Take it to the streets. So that summer we had our first (and only) Dance Off. I don’t even remember who won, but we maintained our rep, and that’s all that matters on the harsh streets of Huntington Beach. Yo.

Basically, we were livin’ the dream. We totally idolized “Kelly” from “Breakin” and “Breakin 2 – Electric Boogaloo.” I wanted to be her and for the summer of '84, I thought I was.

And last night, I brought it back.
