Then She Went For A Run

I've been carrying around a lot burdens the past few months. And let me tell ya, they are heavy. Maybe that's why I have put running on the back burner.

I was blah-blah-blahing to my girlfriend recently about the same old blah-blah's that I have been blahing about for the past few months. And she said something to me so simple that it actually took a couple hours for me to absorb. She said, "Why do you care what he thinks about you or your life? He doesn't care what you think about his."

Then I was emailed some random forward, which I usually just delete without reading. But I opened this one and it said something like, "Take care of the people that are good to you and forget about the ones that are not."

Then I was driving in my car and the silly lyrics "just live your life, ain't got time for no haters" came on.

Then It hit me like a ton o' bricks: Just let it go. Really this time.
Then I did.
Then I felt free and amazing and optimistic and relaxed.

Then I went for a run.

It's always good to discard a blah blah. Onward to bling bling!

Sometimes fate (and friends and song lyrics and emails) need to just hit us over the head with a frying pan so we can see what was there all along. Honey glad you are moving on. Now how do I get out that door for a run again?

That is great advice and I like that the universe felt the need to beat you over the head with it X3 to make sure you got the message. Sounds like you did. :) Thanks for sharing.

Thank goodness you were paying attention. Then again, when you get the same message THREE DIFFERENT TIMES (wow!!!) it's tough to miss. Hooray for moving forward!

Girl, I know exactly how you feel. I've having a terrible few months; my husband and I are getting divorced, he moved out the weekend of the 14th, and it's close to being finalized. The only good thing is that it's amicable and we're not fighting. Still, it's hard to close out an 8-year-long relationship and a marriage. There are some things about it that fucking suck hairy balls. And the only thing that's been keeping me halfway sane is my running. It's been a lifesaver.

I'm feeling so much better now. Things are looking good.

Nice! Sometimes it just takes one (or two, or three or 10 bazillion) of those days to do it but once you've let it go, it's priceless! They should have that on a VISA commerical!

Yay for a run!

Its strange how the weirdest things can completely uplift you. I felt seriously depressed until I finally just faced it and wrote a blog about it..and voila! magically better! Keep up the runs girl...its time for you to go to Boston :)

So good that you came to this conclusion! I've been there, and it is very empowering when you finally "get it".

Good good!

that is some great advice. Stuff you probably already knew, but needed to hear it from a friend.

Glad the burden was lifted! Isn't it weird how things like that happen, randomly?

Hope you're doing well.

Here's the quote that's been on my fridge for the past few months (It was needed, so it stayed a while...):

"Do everything with a mind that lets go. Do not expect any praise or reward. If you let go a little, you will have a little peace. If you let go a lot, you will have a lot of piece. If you let go completely, you will know complete peace and freedom. Your struggles with the world will have come to an end." (Insight meditation, achaan chah)

So I don't always get there (read: haven't even gotten close) but it's a good reminder.

Hope you had a good run.

Let it really go, Baby. Plenty of people really do care about you and you are fabulous. Those that don't are missing out.

It's funny when that happens like a soft little smack to the head ... then suddenly it's clear.

stuff like that is always so "flip the switch" - you are tormented so badly until one day you realize you haven't thought about it in a couple of days.

A lot of people have been feeling the stress lately. I think it comes with this time of year. :D
