Atonement

Dear Running Gods,

Please forgive me for all the running sins I have committed.
Thank you for humbling me and thank you for teaching me such valuable lessons as:

  • Yes, a side stitch can last 2 hours
  • Just because I run fast once doesn't mean I will do it again
  • Respect the distance (even if it's only 10 miles)
  • One bad run doesn't exempt me from another bad run

I vow to stop talking (negative) smack about running. I vow to stick to my training, although I'm not sure I can deal with another poopy run.

In the name of all running things sacred.

Amen

2 hr side-stich. geez.

You're right on every one of them and still doing great.

I'm sure the Running Gods are completely cool with you now and that all of your future runs will be full of bliss! Maybe little running fairies and pixie dust too!!!

speaking of side stitches, how do you get rid of them? i got one today while running, and it didn't take that long to go away, but i have no idea what i did.

This makes me so glad I'm not a runner!
Always hated the side-stitch when I did run, though. All those years ago, when I was young and foolish ...err...active.

Rock on.

By the way... I hate running ! :)

Perhaps I too need to make penance and be forgiven so that I can return to some quality runs.

lol, training really does suck :-) Only what, 7 more weeks? We're going to have so much fun in Portland these shitty runs will quickly be forgotten!

If you are having some bad runs, take 3 days off from running. It'll give you a bounce back. You are getting in a lot of miles now, so it's totally safe to just skip a couple. It'll help.

Ah yes, they have a way of putting us in our place.

If there is a god of running SHE is sure looking after you p.o.m.!! Poopy runs come and then they go. That is what is so great about running...everyday is an adventure, like a box of chocolate, you never know what your gonna get!!

I would kill to be able to run 10 miles. It's like right there taunting me yet so out of reach!

In the name of all running things sacred, i heal you!!!

I love your blog! I'm interested in starting running. I think I'm going to try C25k. I'm curious about running shoes - I know I need to get some but I have no idea where to start. I'd like to get something basic and then buy something better if I really get into running. Anyway, just curious what type of running shoes you like?

Isn't it strange how one run is great and another is ridiculously hard?!

Peggy said...

Thanks for the tips on running shoes. I found a running store in my area so I might go check that out! I think I'll really enjoy running so I'm looking forward to starting the C25K plan and then going from there - hopefully run a 10k and then who knows? :)

Buster is doing very well, thanks!

Hang in there-- this is an appropriate time to be having crapass runs-- you've been doing a lot of mileage and you're tired! This is a good thing! However, if you're really dead, I agree with Judi-- take off a couple of days if you're really feeling blah....

I too need to pray to the Running Gods, Monday starts OFFICIAL marathon training and I'm freakin' afraid! Maybe SHE can give me the peace and serenity I need to make it through those long runs.

Tomorrow morning I'll try it... see if it helps.

im with you. its amazing how one can be fantastic and you're on a high and next run the runners high just bypasses you.
I only have 3 more long runs til its alllll over.

Maybe try: The more you run of it, the faster you're done it.

My motivation: Cute boy that works at my running store...The faster I get back there, the more i get to "talk" to him:)

Ugh. I had a wretched run this morning too. Ever felt like someone removed your pelvis, stomped on it with heavy boots, then shoved it back in your skin upside down?

That was me. For 12 freaking miles.

Two hour side stich? OUCH!
