Like all my stories start, I was at a bar with some friends... a couple dirty martinis in.
I spotted this handsome older gentleman across the bar and batted my eyelashes. In about 2 seconds flat, he is sitting at our table. He was French Canadian so I tried to practice my French, my terrible pronunciation must have charmed him. We talked for a good hour. He has a daughter not much younger than me (creepy). But I do love a sexy older man.
Anywhooo. Us gals started getting antsy so we decided to head to the bar next door where there is dancing. I gave FCOM my number and we left. He called me about 10 minutes later. I ignored the call. So we're at the other bar and I'm dancing with some friends and I see FCOM standing in the corner. Watching me. All night long. I pretended like I didn't see him.
Then I threw up on the dance floor. That's when ya know it's time to go home.
He texted me in the morning to see if I wanted to go to brunch. I didn't respond.
He called me in the afternoon to see if I wanted to meet for dinner. I didn't respond.
He continued to text and call me for about a month. I never responded.
My friends bumped into him at another bar and he was asking about me.
Now why, oh why can't Perfect 10 just call ONE more time?
Last, I'm going to run this weekend.

Perfect 10 Gets Away
Feeling of the day: Frustrated. Here's the story:
The weekend before I left for Mex, I went to a delightful champagne brunch with some old pals (guys and girls). As you probably know, I am not one to turn down the endless champagne that is poured. I do enjoy me some champers.
After the brunch, the guys in the group decided it was a great idea to hit up a local dive bar for more bevvies. I had to admit, it seemed like a great idea to me too. So we went to this local pit of a bar and had another.
.
While there, I noticed this very hot guy. I would say he could quite possibly be a perfect 10 in my dorky POM standards (I'm talkin' looks, since I don't know this guy from anyone). He was tall, very muscular but lean, not bulky creepy and he had glasses! His legs were perfect and his butt - OMG! I was watching him the entire time. I'm sure my guy friends were not so happy with that.
.
Anyway on the way out, I had enough liquid courage to say something to him. I said something totally amazing like, "do you work out?" I really hope that's not what I said, but I think it might be. I'm fancy like that. We chatted for a bit - I think he said he does Tri's. I then suggested that we get together some time. Yeah, really - I did. I gave him my digits and that was that.
.
Flash forward to me landing in LAX on Sunday. I turn my phone on to check my messages and get this... PERFECT 10 CALLED ME!!! I was so excited and wanted to hear the message again, so I hit "7". Oh shit...wait "7" is the delete button. Shit shit shit. Then I figured I could just see the incoming number on my call list. But nooooooooooo, my phone was off so it didn't capture the number.
.
I'm totally screwed. He's a perfect 10. He's not going to call again and again like other losers that call me a million times (Mr. Smarmy, French Canadian Old Man or the Australian CEO Sex Maniac).
**Note to self - must share the FCOM and ACSM stories with ya'll
.
I had another brilliant idea to go online and check my call log on my phone bill. But it's NOT on there. The call came in on April 23 or 24. And my phone bill logs the calls until the 22 and then back on 26. The days in between are lost forever.
.
I even had a dream about him last night. I dreamt that I saw him at the store and was able to say hi and tell him what happened.
Stupid, stupid, stupid!
.
***UPDATE: Called Verizon and there is no way to get the number or the voice mail back. boo

Say It Out Loud
I might have already blogged about this. Forgive me if I have.
Have you ever had a decision to make and you weren't really sure what direction to take?
This works best for dating, but it really could be applied to other areas of ones life.
Well something the Spicy Latina said to me really rang true.
Say it out loud to a friend!
It might make the decision a lot more clear.
For example I met this guy I am considering going out with.
Yeah, but here I am still considering going out with him.
I can get over the height thing, but the other 2? Uhm... DUH!
So, what do you have to SAY OUT LOUD????

- He is kinda short.

- He doesn't believe in God.
Yeah, but here I am still considering going out with him.

The Greener Side
If the grass is always greener on the other side, then according to some people YOU are the greener side. Right?
So looking at the greener side, I thought I would list all the manure that makes my lawn so verdant and lush.
Good things about being single:
So looking at the greener side, I thought I would list all the manure that makes my lawn so verdant and lush.
Good things about being single:
- One can watch Sex & The City Season 1 and 2 in one sitting without complaints.
- One remembers to floss her teeth nightly.
- One is able to use all the expensive products that she only keeps at her house.
- One can eat yogurt for dinner.
- One can wear ugly blue fuzzy jammers, pink slippers and green socks with her hair in a scrunchy from high school with no shame.
- One doesn't have to do other people's dishes.
- One can read in peace without some stupid sports game going on in the background.
- One's toothpaste is neatly put away without crap all over the counter.
- One does not have whiskers in her sink.
- When one purchases a treat for herself, it is still in the fridge when she gets home.
That's all I can think of for now. But I know you have some manure to share - why is your grass greener?

Fun Foto Friday & Smarmy

Since it's 2/6 - I will go to the 2nd folder; 6th picture.
EWE - I don't love this pic. This is my sis and I at my grandpa's 80th bday party a couple weeks ago. My sister's bangs are weird. She's growing them out. I got her that sweater for Christmas. It's cute, huh?
Story time:
I went out with my girlies last night. Dinner then drinks, you know how it goes? Someone thought it was a good idea to order a FOURTH bottle of wine. WTF?
Well this guy, we'll call him "Smarmy" took a liking to me. Apparently, I spent a lot of time talking to Smarmy and agreeing to see him again. I don't remember much about him except he had little lips. Ick.
Anyway, maybe I should give him a try. I asked my girls what they thought - He's kinda nerdy like Dr. Drew, is what was said. But he's totally not as hot as Dr. Drew. But now I have Dr. Drew in my head so I might get my hopes up and Smarmy will just turn out to be smarmy. Should I give him a try or just ignore him. He's already called and texted asking me out. I texted him back "raincheck." Since apparently I am not good at making decisions for myself, I will rely on you guys.

Hurting
Sorry for the non posting of late.
I'm having a rough time right now.
I knew this day would come but it doesn't make it any easier. If I could only be mad or angry I might be able to be stronger. But I'm not. I'm just sad and hurt and disappointed.
I've always held on to things way to long. I don't know how to let people go (unless they've blatantly hurt me or someone I love - then I can cut them off and never look back). But in relationships where nothing bad has happened and we care about each other, I hold on and on and on. Even when we want completely different things. I always think there is hope and we can make it work as long as we both try.
I know I have to let go.
I have to feel this pain.
I have to go through the motions to get over this.
I will not mask it with rebound dating or drinking or obsessing about my weight.
A good blogging friend once told me to rip the band aid off. (Hugs with pants HL!)
It will sting at first, but it will heal.
I hope I do.

Next as a Verb

Dear Aggressor,
Let me start by saying that it's not me, it's you. You barely meet 35% of my "requirement" list and there was really no reason for me to even date you. I never wanted anything serious with you, at all.
.
Anyway, I caved in and dated you because you were "aggressive" about it. And I must admit that all the attention you gave me was flattering and fun. Perfect for "rebounding." I was quite honest with you about this.
.
Lately you are acting shady and weird. I told you I wasn't cool with this. Now you're trying to pull the "we're moving to fast" bullshit. HELLO, freak- that was all you. I put the breaks on like 25 times. So basically, this is just not fun for me anymore. And I'm over it.
.
So take a hike.
That is all.
.
PS: My friends think you're gay.
.
Song of the Day: You guys have any good "take a hike" songs??? I am drawing a blank here.

Me Learn Good One Day
There are so many of life's lessons that we KNOW, yet we don't implement in our daily lives. And by "we" I mean "I."
I am not a stupid girl (most of the time).
I make good decisions (some of the time).
I think things through (once in a while).
But some (stupid) things I do over and over again.
Exhibit A.
Drinking before long runs is not a good idea. I have blogged about the consequences of this numerous times. Yet, do I learn? Of course not. So yes, I drank last night - a few glasses of wine at dinner and then 2 vodka sodas after dinner. And yes, I enjoyed the pooptastic benefits of a hungover 8 miler this morning.
Mile 1: 9:24 - head bouncing around; can't see straight
Mile 2: 9:22 - headache really kicks in
Mile 3: 9:48 - Oh shit I'm thirsty (with no water pack today)
Mile 4: 9:39 - Half way, I can do this
Mile 5: 9:34 - Ok, this isn't too bad
Mile 6: 9:31 - Thank Sweet Baby Jesus it's not sunny yet
Mile 7: 9:11 - Seriously, this needs to end
Mile 8: 9:04 - I'm done! I will NEVER drink before a run again (yeah right)
Total: 1:15: 33 - 880 calories (not to bad for hung over. I think the fartleks are making me faster FO SHO)
Exhibit B
Dating. Enough said? Ok, I'll elaborate a bit.
About 3 years ago, I made the list. The most important list of all. A list of the qualities that I want in my significant other. Hey, you gotta put it out in the universe if you want it happen, right? Remember THE SECRET???
The list has 2 columns. (Single girls - do this now!)
Column 1 is a list of "Must Haves" - things that are deal breakers.
Column 2 is a list of "Would be nice, but not a deal breaker.
My list is long and I swear it freakin' grows everyday.
Now, that is not the bad part.
The bad part (where I make stupid decisions) is that I have this awesome list and I know what I want. BUT I meet guys that do not qualify and I date them anyway. I understand that nobody will be perfect. But if there are things that are deal breakers, then I need to break the deal.
Someone just drop a freakin' ANVIL on my head. Then maybe I'll get it.
