The pre-race freakout.
I know you must thinking - "It's just a half marathon."
I KNOW - I am thinking the same thing.
But I am at a hotel all week and don't have much control over when and what I'll be eating. Or much control as to when I can get a couple runs in.
I planned to run this morning and Wed. And that is it before the race on Saturday.
But I had a dream last night that I was hospitalized for exhaustion. And when I woke up I was exhausted. So I slept an extra hour instead of running.
When I did wake up, I was having knee pains. What the heck?
I know this is "normal" but I'm still worried.
What if the hills just kick my ass?
What if my time is like 30 minutes slower than my last half?
Ok, calm down. Breath. Really, who cares if I'm slower because of the hills? It won't be the end of the world. It's good to challenge myself.
Now I'm off to find something semi healthy to eat for brekkie (And stay AWAY from the mini bar crap)!

You're going to do great! The hills will be an exciting challenge. Good luck:)
You'll be fine. Just take a deep breath, step back, and know that you are prepared.
Best of luck.
Taper brain S*U*C*K*S!
Have a great race!
You are going to do great, no worries. Your runs have been consistent and you have been keeping up with them while traveling, you are ready. Don't worry about the hills, just take them one at a time. And, if your knee is hurting, ice it!
You are going to do great. Your adrenaline will get you through a lot of the race! Just tell yourself to relax and remember you're doing this FOR FUN! Not to stress out about!
you will do GREAT!!! just relax and have fun! i wish i was doing that run this weekend! a bunch of my friends will be there but not me :( you will have a great time!
and congrats on the scale :) that is VERY exciting and you have worked very hard - good job!!!
You'll do great on race day. Once you get there and find your groove, you'll impress yourself with how quickly those miles will fly by. :)
Whoa...step aay from the mini bar.
You trained while on vaca for crying out loud. Take your victory lap (or 13) and enjoy!
You are going to do great. It is just going to be a fun weekend with your Mom. Those hills are just making the legs stronger. Your dream was too funny.
Like I always tell my team, “there’s nothing wrong with second place….” You’ll do fine… Did that work?
Just don't forget you're helmet and you'll do great!
Anita is already telling you you're going to be one lean mean running machine, you don't need to hear it from me ;-).
You will be totally fine. You just need to take a nice deep breath and enjoy your week and get your runs in when you can. You will do awesome in your race!
Oooohh girl you got this thing in the bag! You're going to do wonderfully :-) And just remember to HAVE FUN! ;D
I'm sure you'll do great. This is nothing that you haven't accomplished in the past and, even with the hills, you will do a great job. Don't let the brain overload you!
I think you will do awesome!
Deep breaths sister! You've got this under control and you'll do fine.
It's just cause you're excited!
I am trying hard to not get all worked up about my half on Saturday, but now you, a veteran, are also having nerves. ACK!
ACK! Wait, did I say that already?
I'm sure we'll both do wonderfully.
I almost wrote this post today and I am still two weeks out. I decided to wait a week to panic fully. LOL So anyway I am right there with you! :>D
Go hard or go home. Let me know if you want the Angry pep talk.
Go get a massage too...that will help calm your nerves.
Just consider it an unconventional taper. At least your legs will be be fresh!
you've done all the hard work, now go have fun....we are cheering for you!!
Relax the hay is in the barn. Final words of advice don't go out too fast, seriously, the first couple of miles are a bit of a roller coaster, just get into your stride and stay there, the long hill isn't that bad and remember there is a photographer at the top so smile. Just roll down the back of the hill and enjoy the scenery, once you go over the last hill and are back in Solvang the finish comes really fast so sprint it in!
It's totally normal to lose it the week before a race. They say there is no taper madness for half marathons, but I would beg to differ. Hang in there!
You will rock the course girlie. You will do great. Don't eat too much crap this week if you can help it though. No one likes digesive upset during a race!
i think by now you have run the race ... those pre-race jitters suck! i am sure you will do (did) great!
