Halloween Run

I finally feel like I can blog again because I actually dragged my lazy butt out of bed and RAN this morning. Yep, I ran. Can you believe it?

I threw on my long sleeve blue Portland Marathon shirt with my black and purple shorts and pink socks. Hey, it was really dark out so nobody could see how I rocked the Punky Brewster look.

As soon as I opened my door, I noticed the fog. It was really, really foggy. I would say that you couldn't see more than 6 feet in front of you. I got out to the boardwalk and caught a light chill. Not from the temperature, but because I am big fat chicken! It was scary out there. At one point I saw this shadow emerging from the foggy darkness of the sand and I actually held my breath and ran as fast as I could. He was just walking his dog, but I didn't see the dog until I passed him.

It was dark for my entire run. I can't wait for the time to change, then I get some light in the morning. Is anyone else a chicken to run in the dark???

yep, i am chicken too. Funny enough, i had my first early morning in the dark run in a very long time this morning! a car slowed right down as it passed me, freaked me out! Only difference between your weather and mine is that i had snow, you had fog :) LOL

Oh I am a total chicken to run in the dark. Especially at night! I don't even want to attract attention to myself, which is one of the reason why I don't like to wear any kind of reflective gear! (I prefer a white top or something.) But I rarely rarely go run in the dark!

It was foggy up in NorCal, too!

YES the dark is scary!! thats why i rock my headlamp :) haha. the time change will be nice and i will be making myself a morning runner starting next week so i get some more light!

Yup, I get freaked out too. Won't listen to my ipod until it's light enough. Thank jebus daylight savings time happened here this past Sunday or I might have skipped my long run.

I have never run in the dark before, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to, soon. Last year, I worked in a place that allowed me to do my week-day runs on my lunch break. Here? that wouldn't so much work out.

While running in the dark (Which I haven't done by myself in a while) I constantly look over my shoulder and my music is turned wayyy down just incase theres someone behind me...or the car behind me slows down or stops. Maybe a little paranoid.

Time change comes next week (atleast here in Canada it does).

P.S. I would totally trade in snow for fog.

I don't mind the dark.. I mind the completely unlit sidewalks that have dips and cracks and I fear for my pretty neck.

I am so scared to run in the dark too! I'm always like thinking people are racing up to me or something, I've even been freaked out by my own shadow before! ha ha.

I love running in the dark but occasionally get creeped out. I can let myself get pretty carried away imaging what's lurking in the woods!
P.S. The punky brewster outfit sounds awesome!

I'm not scared fo the dark, I'm scared of running outside period. I've tried to convince my husband to get a dog to run with me, but our cats would kill us. So you have one up on me, you already run outside. But I just can't wait for the time change, I hate that I go to work in the dark and come home in the dark. So depressing.

I totally get creeped out! Sometimes it gets so bad that I swear I'm going to pee my pants!!!

I don't like running in the dark by myself, but I do love running in the dark with one of my few running buddies that I can keep up with.

Nice job on getting out there!

I actually love running in the dark, but for the tripping thing... I ran last night and for the first time ever used a headlamp and looked like a total idiot. However, I didn't run off the trail which was a marked improvement over the previous run in the dark.

I must get back to running as well... I have been doing lame little runs..

Thanks for all your kind comments....

Great job on getting the run in. I am totally scared of the dark too. Though I love watching the sun come up toward the end of my run.

I'm a total chicken to run in the dark, but I'm more worried about tripping on sidewalk cracks (yep, I'm a klutz). But now that it's colder outside (or was colder 'til this week), I switched to afternoon runs.

Love the Punky Brewster image, though. Maybe you just need your own Brandon to run with you in the dark. = )

The dark doesn't bother me. I figure I can outrun the boogie monster, so I'm cool.

I am beginning to love running in the dark. However, I see your point. I would rather not have my wife run in the dark (especially not alone).

How does it feel to be running again?

It is scary, because as you mentioned it is really foggy in the mornings...

It was bound to happen - we wrote the same post today - sort of! ha ha! I'm looking your song up right after I publish this comment!

i get a little scared running in the dark (especially because i run pretty early, like 4:30am), but i don't have much of a choice. the scariest thing i've seen was a coyote, on two separate occasions. gotta break out a headlamp one of these days ...

Nah...maybe on Halloween.

Actually, I don't run in the dark. Me and the drug dealers at the park where I run have a mutual understanding...

Running in the dark IS scary! I run with a group and we are still cautious with those lurkers. Being cautious is smart! Do you have a light to clip on your cap? They are awesome!

As long as I have a safe route and don't pass woods I am fine running in the dark. There is a peacefullness about it.

I don't run in the dark, it freaks me out way too much. I wouldn't mind getting some early morning sunlight, that's for sure.

I don't think I could run in the dark. scary!

I am a total chicken to run in the dark, and I think its probably a good thing. We run to be healthy, and not put ourselves in danger. It really sucks when you want to get out for a run but there in no time until darkness.

I just hate getting to work in the dark AND LEAVING in the dark. What a bust! Bring on daylight savings.

**waves hand**

total chicken and it's not just an excuse...I FREAK MYSELF OUT WITH ALL THE TINY NOISES.

I love running in the dark, I just keep it safe by wearing a reflective vest and not using music. It's so much fun to not really see the big hills ahead and just go by what your body is feeling.

Soleil Moon Frye has some gigantic hoots now. I don't know why I thought of that. Meh.

I miss Punky, I remember the halloween special that show ran where the Punky Brewster friends all went into this enchanted cave that was like possessed or something... I was seriously scarred for like a decade after seeing that. For some reason I had nightmares about that episode for like a decade. How much of a pussy am I ;-).

So, ya, I'm scared of the dark too mate. No worries... daylight shall return ;-)

I'm also uneasy running in the dark. Not only because of the creepy people out there but I'm terrified of getting hurt and not being able to run!

I run with a Doberman Pinscher. They're pretty good for putting one's mind at ease. ;)

Dood, was the Mystery Machine there? Your foggy run on the boardwalk reminds me a of Scooby Doo!

I ran in the dark tonight and I LOVE it. But I do get a little freaked out when I hit the secluded parts.

Oh yes, i am so frightened to run in the dark. Up on my boardwalk..ok i don't own the boardwalk but you get the picture, anyway its very creepy at 6.45am in the dark and practically deserted. Still....gotta do it right?
