But Seriously Though

The Portland Marathon is approximately 14 weeks away.
Training is going tres bien.

It's time to get serious and think about my race goals.
Last year, my goal was 4:30. With my hip injury, I finished at 4:45.

So, here are my goals:

1. Maintain my weight. I know it's not that important when endurance training, but I gained 12 freakin pounds last year. That can NOT happen again and it is a huge deal to me, so shut it. To make sure that doesn't happen a"gain", I will continue to weigh myself a couple times a week and not increase my calories too much. I will continue to eat several healthy meals a day, starting right when I wake up. I know it helps balance me out if I eat right away, then I'm not starving all the time and therefore pigging out on whatever the biznatches bring into the office. I will also keep up with Bikram 3 to 4 times a week.

2. Finish in 4:25. According to the McMillan Calculator I should be able to finish in 4:20. (ha ha, get it - 4:20?) I'm giving myself an extra 5 mins because I'm nice to myself. To accomplish this goal, I will continue to follow ZE PLAN extraordinaire, get in all my Luscious Longies and maintain a Healthapotamus attitude.

3. Have Birthday Fun. It's my best friend's birfday so after the marathon, we're gonna party like it's 1999. Actually 1999 came and went, and the party kinda sucked. So we're gonna party like we just ran a marathon! That is more our style anyway. Although, a Portland Blogger Martini Meet Up will definitely be in order. Holla.

So, there they are folks.

Fartleks in the Wind:
4 miles
Time: 35:08
Average: 8:47
Max: 5:43

I have no idea what kind of goal to set. McMillan can kiss my slow moving arse if he tells me one more time I can't beat Oprah.

You rock out with your healthapotamus self! You skinnysaurus rex!

Good goals! Partying like you just ran a marathon trumps almost all other partying. Keep at it!

Great plans. I have to agree 1999 was kinda lame

I'm really liking your goals! I'm with Chia on the wanting to beat Oprah bandwagon. Must beat McMillan into submission first. ;)

PS I did a toe stand pose today. I was like hmm...I wonder if I could just try it and then I was up and brought both hands up and I wanted to scream and say look at me! But you know everyone else would have fallen over. I was high off of the ground but my leg was up and YIPPEE!!

You are so hilarious!

Maintaining weight is a goal of mine as well. I went a bit over zealous with the eating while marathon training and actually gained a bit in the beginning. I ended up losing it again but it was discouragin to be doing all that running and not losing.

4:25! That's awesome...you can totally do it!

1999 did suck. However, I will warn you that partying after the marathon (at least in my case) was a very low key, bring on the margaritas and sit in the hot tub kind of party...there was not going to be any dancing, the legs were not having any of that!

Justin and I might be out of town the weekend of the marathon here but if we're not we should meet up. Neither of us (at least not me, Justin is considering running) will be running...I'm going to work on base training and maybe throw in a half marathon this Fall before AZ in January.

Great goals. You are going to hit each one. A Martini Meet up sounds like a great way to celebrate.

Nice job with the run today.

Great goals, but you can never plan a marathon time!...
I run 11 marathons, but every marathon is not the same.
Good luck whit your goals and you go faster this time.

You go girl! Looks to me like you have a good plan there. I think you should definitely party like you just ran a marathon. Much more exhilarating.

I love you for the party like it's 1999 reference.

made me feel less old as recently I said that in jest and the person at whom I was rambling had no idea what I meant.

the horror.

Doesn't partying like you just ran a marathon mean you're going to have half a beer and pass out in some pasta?

I gained weight last year when I trained for my marathon too . . . what's that about? It just seems so wrong!

Your goals look spectacular :)

Now that's a plan and you know what they say about failing to plan don't you!

Go for them all and you'll do fab!

It's BODY COMPOSITION that matters, not weight. Good Lord...
