The Monday of My Discontent

I’m posting my Monday Weigh in on Sunday night because I’m not sure I will have time Monday morning. So here it is, in all it's non-glory:

Previous Weight: 146
Current Weight: 145*
*I did weigh 146 before my morning workout, but 145 after.

I have to say that I’m really disappointed. I know it’s better than actually GAINING, but shit, I really thought that I would have dropped at least 2 lbs.

To make this positive, a little disappointment might be what I need to kick this mutha into high gear. Looking back at last week, I can see more than a few *pitfalls* that might have influenced the scale:

  • Monday night pasta dinner with wine

  • Drank wine on Tuesday night

  • Drank a billion Blueberry Vodkas on Halloween

  • Went to happy hour on Thursday night and got “happy”

  • Went out to dinner on Sat night at had huge Italian dinner

What the F was I thinking? How can I expect to just drop weight because I “will” it?
So this it. This time I’m serious. This week victory will be mine.

You are right...you didn't gain! And did you enjoy yourself this week? That is what matters...plus you got some workouts in! Think positive...this week will be better...no middleof the week holiday to cramp the diet! :)

Hehe. Sounds like what happens when I *try* to lose. Hey, here's a thought: catch some infection that requires antibiotics. A nice cocktail of antibiotics will definitely curtail your drinking, or you can opt for a stomach virus--KIDDING! Good luck this week; keep your eye on the prize (just as long as the prize isn't a bottle of wine).

Hey, you did good. I gained. :( My son's birthday party, and we had a doritos bowl out. Not good for me.

Oooo Oooooo Ooo might I add this . .try weighing yourself at the same time every time (morning is always the best) That way it's more accurate. As the day goes on your weight fluctuates. God I sound like A Jenny Craig spokeswoman or something *bleck*

What do you mean a person can't drop weight just by willing it? man, I'm gonna have to change my whole strategy.

You didn't gain, so that's good. But, on the other side - I can see your point. I'm the same way!! I'm like I didn't gain, but crap I'm "trying" to loose weight and realize the trying part is little to none.

I feel your pain. In 3 wks I've put on about 5-6 lbs and am so disgusted. I want to be in the challenge with you but honestly too embarrassed to put my current weight up.

Pasta in the evening is bad. I know this, too, because we love pasta and wine and for dinner.

I am writing it all down. Said I wouldn't resort to that, but, if I write it all and I mean even the munchkin's Halloween candy, maybe it will kick me into gear.

You're doing great!!! I know you can do it.

Quit beating yourself up girl! Just use your disappointment as motivation to make better choices this week.

At least your weight is headed in the direction you want it to go, Jess! Be happy for that and make good choices this week!

I've been hesitant to post because I don't want your readers to hate me before they even know me. I committed to the challenge, though, so here goes...

10/29 weight – 164.2
11/5 weight – 158

My goal for the week was a 2 lb. weight loss. I am thrilled with the extra and realize that much of what I lost is probably “water weight”, whatever that means.

There are a number of factors that contributed:

I finally found a type of yoga that I like...Vinyasa Flow. As a result, I got more exercise in one week than ever before:
-two 1.5 hour and two 1 hour yoga classes
-two pilates equipment classes

I ate breakfast every day.

I ate what I wanted (including chips and salsa & fried calamari) but paid close attention to portion size and quit eating before I was stuffed.

I didn't eat any Halloween candy but I did have one Dove dark chocolate square every night.

I wrote down everything I ate.

So there you have it. I feel good. I'm getting stronger. For the first time in my life I am starting to understand that “itch” to exercise regularly and that is pretty cool!

On the other hand, if you had lost weight with that approach, you could have written a book and made millions of dollars, because who wouldn't want to lose weight by eating pasta and drinking wine? It was certainly worth a try. I kind of like the willing it off approach, too.

I ate salad and only had one drink the entire week. I didn't lose anything either. I'm pretty sure you had more fun, so I would declare you the winner if this week were a competition!

Oh hang in there. For me, it takes a couple of weeks to get everything "down." And get my body and brain in sync. Good luck this week. Victory!!

(oh, and my race is a dinky 4 miler. I know. Wussy. But I don't really consider myself a runner, so it's more like, yo! Exercise on Thanksgiving! Woo-hoo!)

Well, I say congratulations for having a billion blueberry vodkas and not gaining any weight! You must have been REALLY good somewhere along the line.

Blueberry vodka--I have to confess I've never even heard of it. Perhpas it's even got a few antioxidants in it so I can call it a "health food."

(And loved the muffintop poem, btw).

You'll do better this week. Fitday will definitely get you on track--and you have time to work out the kinks and figure out what will make your body lose poundage.

Your food log sounds like mine, except I like to replace the alcohol with ice cream sundaes!

Little known fact: not gaining weight the week of Halloween is actually the equivalent of losing five pounds. Really! I bet you'll have a better week post-Halloween. BTW, also love Aimee Mann.

Damn... atleast your number got smaller! :) I guess if I want to win this game, I got to make some definite changes! So much for relying on will...

I'm a day late. I didn't do great either. Yesterday I weighed more. Today less - I'm at 147 which is one pound less from last week - hang in there we'll all get there.

I've been working on losing the last 10 pds for many, many months. Let me know if you find the "magic" solution. At least your number is going down instead of up. Yay!

My strategy is to not run or work out because of sore knees, get the flu and eat non stop.

So far, so good, I haven't gained, but I know by the end of this flu, I am going to be in deep shit when I step on that scale.

I recently tried blueberry vodka for the first time... sooooooo good! And don't stress about the weight. It'll happen!
