14 Miles - Check

Happy 6th of July~

I did get my 14 miler in this weekend. My pace was 8:52 or something like that. Not bad, but still far from where I want to be. I felt like I was pushing myself the entire time.

You know how whenever you tell people you 'run' because you like it, a typical reply is "I only run if someone is chasing me." Well I realized that I run faster/better when I am actually behind someone. If I see a runner in front of me, I am determined to pass them. So I actually run faster. Does that make me a chaser, instead of a chasee? Kinda creepy, huh?

Well, after the run the rest of my weekend consisted of going to the market about 6 times, making 55 jello shots, chopping up veggies & fruit and drinking a mother load of Sangria.

sounds like a good weekend! I found myself so motivated to pass people in my half marathon on Saturday, so I, too, am a chaser.

Sounds like a pretty decent pace to me!!

I'm a "chaser" too. I like to find someone in front of me who's keeping a decent pace and KEEP UP with them though!

Congrats on the 14 miler.. I am such a chaser.. its ridiculous how much harder I will run.

I have to work on my pacing- I am so lazy these days- well, I did run 3000 feet in elevation yesterday with 40%-plus grades- but still lazy pacing except for that one guy who I had to keep up with for a few miles..

You are quite the woman of many talents: 14 miles and jello shots all in one weekend. 8:52 is a fab pace for 14 miles!!

Great job on the14 miles! I hate when people respond with the "only if someone is chasing me" Maybe you should start chasing people as see what happens?

Nice job on the 14 miler! It always seems like it should get extra praise for being done over a holiday, right?

That's a dizzying pace for a 14 mile training run. Sweet!

that is crazy speedy 14 miles! I'm jealous. Maybe I should start trying to pass people. I don't do that. . . but apparently I should!

i'm really impressed. i haven't had a "long" run yet in my half training - long for me would be anything over 7-8 miles and i'm a bit nervous! you just did a half!

Great run! (I, too, drank a mother load of Sangria this weekend. It's better for you than other types of drinks because of all the fruit, right?)

Yes, but have you had jello shots made out of Sangria? Because those sound yummy!

no joke on the chasing!! here I am trying to recover and if I see someone in front of me I start speeding up like it matters...then I must force myself to SLOW DOWN

way to go on 14 you rockstar

Good job on the 14-mile run, anything under 9 minutes on such a long run is great! Chasing other runners? It's part of our make-up, it's why we run...

There is no doubt I run faster with other people around. Way to get the 14-miler done!

Great job getting the 14 miler in! I agree, I do the same thing. And it's even worse when a biker passes me on the path....like I really have any chance in hell of catching up! Duh.
