Happy Fat

Last night the Loadmaster took me to Mortons.
This boy likes to eat well.
Frequently.

The good thing is that he likes to share food. I really like this about him.

Last night we shared a bottle of yummy pinot.
We shared a chilled seafood platter.
We shared a chopped salad.
We shared a filet mignon.
We shared green beans.

Luckily I talked him out of sharing a dessert. (I always say wine is my dessert)

I hope I don't get fat again.

What are your feelings/thoughts on sharing food at a restaurant??

I think it's fantastic because restaurant portions (in America) are way too big. DUH!
And I like having several courses without having to eat the entire thing.
And I have a hard time making up my mind and committing to just one plate. I always get 'plate envy' of what the other person ordered.
And I like enjoying a meal slowly, especially with a fine fella.

A certain other person (who I won't mention) hated sharing food. He liked to eat his entire plate and nobody could touch it. And he didn't want to seem cheap by sharing.

At the very least BF and I will trade bites of our plates, but we have been known to often either share a dinner/appetizer or when we get out dinners trade halves so we can eat both meals!

Love sharing - I also get plate envy :)

I like the idea of sharing. And I agree, portions are WAY too big. Often, hubby won't want to share though, so I just order something smaller off the appetizer. Or when I get an entree make sure it's something I'll want to have as leftovers cause there's no way I should be eating the whole thing, you know?

Sharing makes you look cheap? All this time I thought it made you not look like an douchebag.

I often share or each order a different entree and split both if I want leftovers, which I love.

Awe...I like sharing too, and I think that's a very good trait to look for in a man.

I love sharing plates as well! Then you don't feel so guilty getting an ap, entree, and maybe another side. Plus, as you said, our portions are OOC here in the US!!

Mr. Loadmaster sounds like quite a catch!!!

I like sharing an app or dessert, but am often the greedy one who doesn't want to share my entree. :) BUT, there are places where the architect & I will order two entrees and share (and have some left over for lunch the next day).

I like sharing food! We almost ALWAYS order appies to share. Sometimes we just order a bunch of appies to share and that is our meal! That's my favourite way to do things because then you can get a little taste of everything!

Gosh, sharing food is never an issue with my guy. I would say that from very early on, we were already eating off of each other's plates. I have never had a problem with it, because I'm not possessive about my food at all and don't eat meat/dairy, which means that oftentimes my meal is his meal. In the end, it's more economical for us anyway. I know it might look ghetto, but what's wrong with two people who are comfortable with both themselves in public and with each other to eat off of each other's plates?

I said it before, and I'll say it again... a keeper! Although I must say, it would be a tough feat to talk my guy out of dessert (if I could even commit to that!).

The Mr and I always share too and dang, your homeboy does like to eat well. I'm uber jealous about that! BUT you deserve it. :)

I love sharing too...I'm a big plate envier!

Awesome that you guys could agree on things to share, that is one thing that the hubs and I can't always do.

Mmmmmm that is making my mouth water just reading it.

Morton's? The guy has taste!

I am all for sharing food at a restaurant. Some restaurants will even split dishes for you if you ask for it to be prepared that way, but then other restaurants are real snarky about it. So it depends on the place.

I love sharing food - I agree, the restaurant portions are so huge. If I can't decide between two things, I like one of us ordering each and then getting a little taste of everything.

I love to share! But not when the other person suggests something that I don't eat or like.

Yep, if a man won't share, just run in the other direction. Sounds like you have yourself a keeper. :)

And I love the notion of wine as dessert -- I'm totally going to steal that... :)

Sharing's the best cure for plate envy, which I suffer from wholeheartedly. I often want to have a taste of the plate at the next table, but have yet to ask to share with a stranger. Hmmm . . . .

my boyfriend and i share everything we order - often a starter salad and an entree are enough for both of us - portion sizes are out of control! and if you get two dishes and share them - you get twice as much variety!

I could go either way - I say it's probably a big deal to you because it's new that you're getting to experience this! That's what makes it better. If I don't share- I like splitting it for left overs anyway. And let's be honest - no sharing for me with anyone these days. I'm on a BREAK.

My husband never likes what I order, but he always lets me steal bites from his plate. I heart that about him. :o)

I share food all the time! I always have such a hard time making up my mind at restaurants. It's a great way to sample stuf that I wanted to order but didn't.

And Mortons. Mmmmmm. I think Mortons is the best steakhouse out there. Even better than Ruths Chris. And Flemings isn't even in the same league....

I share with my fiancé all the time, it is just something we have done since day one. He isn't a big guy and doesn't need a TON of food and I am a big girl that doesn't need a TON of food, so it works out well!
I also think sharing is caring and we always end up fighting over who gets the last piece because we keep telling the other person to have it.
Nothing bad can come of sharing...well...maybe some things...

Sharing is cool, as long as you use your own fork. I hate when couples feed each other. Gag.

I love sharing! Cheaper & healthier!

Dear, Mr. Loadmaster, we love you already. You have put to shame he who shall not be named.

It's definitely more socially acceptable to share meals now than prior to the recession. The waitstaff doesn't give you an evil look, especially if you're ordering expensive wine instead of cheap-ass water to wash it all down.
