Prom Season

The prom season has begun. Some of you have kids going to the prom, others of us can reflect (and laugh) at our own prom.

I'm bringing prom world to bloggerland.... I TAG ALL OF YOU to bust out a prom picture and post it for us. Then if you feel so inclined, share your prom story. Let's see how many prom pics we can get....

1992

November Rain - GnR
Smells Like Teen Spirit - Nirvana
Boys II Men
P.M. Dawn
MC Hammer
Color Me Badd
I had the same boyfriend from 10th grade well into my college years. He was a year older, so we went to HIS senior prom (my junior prom). I remember he was really stressed about being able to afford it. I think he had to sell some baseball cards or something. muahhhhh
.
I loved my dress - it made me feel like The Little Mermaid. Of course I had my shoes and purse dyed to match. I'm just glad my "big hair" stage was already phasing out.
.
Also for your viewing pleasure, I used a picture that showcases my awesome black lacquer bedroom set, which I thought was sooooooooo cool. But still a little girl, you'll also notice the teddy bear.
.
I think we went to Cask 'N Cleaver for dinner. That was the fanciest restaurant we could think of. The actual prom sucked, from what I remember. My boyfriend would not dance, so neither did I. We just sat there. I think we even got in a fight (which we did often).
.
Here's the kicker of my prom story. I'm sure you'll all think I'm a hussy, but if you read my blog regularly, then that's already confirmed. So prom night was a BIG night... ya know? We booked a hotel room. We were cool like that. I went to Victoria's Secret and got some saucy little number, that most likely looked more like a dress than the actual dresses girls wear THESE days to prom (whoa, I sound old). Anyway, we check into the hotel and he says he'll be right back.
I waited.
And waited.
Then I heard a ruckus and realized that there was a big party a couple rooms down. It was obvious that it was people from our prom.
My boyfriend went to the party.
Without me.
I feel asleep in my fancy new nightie.
Alone.
And I didn't even break up with him after that.
AND that wasn't even the worst thing he did throughout our 5 year relationship.
But that's another blog.
.
So bring on the prom pics people!!!!
.
(PS: YES, I got up and ran this morning! Yeah for me)

I will have to hunt for my prom pics tonight. Also, that is the suckiest prom night EVER! I hope you at least kicked him & made him sell more baseball cards.

Yay for your run this morning. I hit the pool for the first time in over 2 months and am feeling good!

Awesome!

And I have no prom story. I was not asked, I didn't go. I am one of those who wasn't invited because I was too tall for everyone else.

Oh well...

That dress is really shimmery! Haha, I really like it!

I can't believe a teenage boy bailed on his gf in a HOTEL ROOM to go to a party. What a loser!!

Too funny, loved this story!!

You look exactly like the actress who played Winnie Cooper on the Wonder Years!!! (Danica Keller)

I can't believe how awful your prom date was!!!

I love the prom pic! And your prom story cracked me up. I danced like a maniac at prom, but that was just to ignore the fact that my date was over floozing it up with some other girl!

great prom pic. i'll have to look and see if i can find one.

and didn't i see that same end table in another recent pic from your apartment? and i can't believe you didn't break up with the guy after leaving you for the party. these days, you dump a poor fella for coming back from the other side of the bar without a drink for you! he should have known better.

as an aside, have you seen Awkward family photos? it's genius.

My son went to prom several weeks ago (was grounded for 2 weeks afterwards. ha!).

i don't think I can find a prom pic. I think my dress made me look like someone from little house on the prairie. styles were gross back then. LOL

This is awesome in so many ways!
I, too, had dyed shoes to match my royal blue dress.

so putting up with crap started young. . . we are who we are :) I never went to prom. Not because I was ugly or awkward - but homeschooled. How sad is that?

Sadly, I have no prom pics. I only went to one (because I graduated HS early so never went to my senior prom), and my parents were never very good about taking pics. I know that tons of kids had long photo shoots with their 'rents before they headed out, but my parents were like "See ya!"

Great story, nice pic too! What a loser guy to bail on you on prom night. I guess we were all young and stupid once, but really...

Omfg dude. Awesome picture and story. You were quite the little prom hottie! Love it. I would have to dig mine out of storage... I'll see what i can do. My story involves going with my 4-years-older boyfriend at the time who was not only WELL out of high school but in the air force and he wore his dress uniform to my prom. Ya, he was like 20 and a total douche. Yikes.

yeah I was a chubber dog in high school, so I'm not so sure I'd like to post my pic... I'll have to consider it

Fantastic prom story!

Have seen what the girls are wearing these days? Um!

My prom story was pretty boring, though Junior year my date did spill his water all over EVERYONE at the table! Senior year my date was lusting to be there with his ex, I think, but eh I had with my friends. Considering I didn't even want to go.

I had the black shiny bedroom set too. I thought it was so cool. My ass is either gotten sure huge but your bed looks so tiny..
