Things I've Learned From Blogging

I started blogging in September of 2007. While this is such a short amount of time, I feel like I've learned so much. Thought I would share what I've learned thus far:

  1. Most people from Canada are funky/cool. I wish I was Canadian.

  2. I have things in common & can relate to all different "types" of people.
  3. Many other people are just as obsessive as I am about running and weight loss.

  4. SAHM are freakin' HI-LAR-IOUS. I wish I was a Stay At Home Mom.

  5. Mormons are funny too.

  6. My blog readers know more about me than my "real" family and friends.

  7. Motivating other people is sometimes easier than motivating yourself.
  8. Short hair cuts are really cute - I'm just too chicken and have a big head.

  9. My vocabulary skillz be increasin' - For example: Craptastic, Uff-da, swawesome, Shiznit, cheesetastic and so much more!

  10. If you want a lot of comments on your blog - post bathing suit pictures.
What has blogging taught you?

"My vocabulary skillz be increasin'" -- true dat, homie!

I also wish I were Canadian. Not only are they cool and funky, but they have universal healthcare and you can buy codeine over the counter there!

We Hosers are pretty kickass, eh?

We will send you some back-bacon, poutine and a toque and you too can be one of us!

Blogging has taught me that I cannot write to save my life...which sucks because I write for a living *sob*.

Blogging has taught me that a certain amount of humility and honesty goes a long way. Chances are, if you've had a hard day, someone else has had harder. There is an acronym for everything and chances are the wittiest comment ever will be out-witted by yet another Canadian. But that's ok. They have good bacon. I'm a vegetarian so that says a lot. Ya.

Sorry, I really am that dorky.

Blogging has taught me that I'm an internet-aholic and definitely need a 12 step program! :)

I just found your blog --it's hilarious! Now I'm off to find those bathing suit pictures.....

Blogging has taught me that I'm really not THAT crazy, because all of you are as crazy as me... (I'm using the word 'crazy' in the most flattering and positive manner possible :)

Fo sho! Bloggin has taught me that I also can be (pretend) gangsta when really I'm just a SAHM with poop stains on my shirt and kids screaming in the background.

canadians are super rad, it's true! blogging has taught me there are other people out there who care about their health and fitness - and don't think it's a waste of time or something bad to obsess about. also blogging has given me some nice new friends, albeit internet ones but that's ok cuz i'm kind of a loner, who don't have alterier motives. they actually want to read what you have to write!

You really want me to go there? I learned from blogging that there are a lot of running freaks that AREN'T elite runners.

Hee hee pretty funny. Blogging has taught me that if I didn't like men, I would marry P.O.M. :D

Blogging has tought me that I suck at writing anything interesting, but there is a few peeps that show me the love so I will keep posting pre school age blogs. I get more support from this than my bulletproff Enell sports bra.
SAHM that is a kewl way to say my occupation. LOL!

Blogging has taught me:
-That I can become addicted to things in a VERY short period of time
-That I am not nearly as funny as I sometimes think I am
-That even on my busy days at work, apparently I still do have free time :)

Side note: I LOVE poutine. Unfortunately it doesn't really fit in with the whole trying to lose weight thing. But next time I'm in Canada, I don't care; I'm totally eating some.

Bathing suit pictures = more comments? Hmmm...

I've learned that I love comments, maybe even enough to post some bathing suit pictures.

Blgging has taught me that there are other people out there that are just as nuts as I am....and also that there are so many cool people out there in blog-land that I would have met sooner if I started blogging earlier.

Hmm,
MOstly marcy and laura's comments. People ask how the heck I have time to blog. I have no clue.

I also like the grownup interaction.

I totally agree with your list -besides #8. (fyi, I have a humungo head. Really. I'll even measure to compare. Not that you should cut your hair off, but I think it actually works with us bigheads.)

not that you really do have a big head, lol! Just sayin...

If I could choose my nationality I would like to be Australian. They're just as friendly as Canadians but have a cooler accent.

Oh yeah, and they can drink like fish. That impresses me more than it really should.

I hope I get to be in the "funky/cool Canadian" category ;0)

Hahaha. Too funny! For reals.

I agree... I think some of you bloggers out there know more about me than my fam! :) You guys should feel special!

Blogging has helped me stay motivated in my workouts. I love knowing that I can come home and write about my running/biking/working out. Its also taught me that there are crazy ass runners just like me all around the country!

Erin said...

Ha, ha! Canucks ARE cool!

I totally agree with you - blogging made me realize that everyone (Ok, a lot) of people are just as weird and obsessive as I am!

Also - most bloggers seem to by SAHM ( that is how I started) or in the tech industry somehow.

Lori said...

Oh, I want to be Australian, too :)

I have met some kick-ass people that are so cool we can exercise and party in the same day ;)

Blogging has given me some much needed adult interaction and let me know that other mom's deal with the same crap (literally) that I do.

I think it is really cute that you want to be a stay at home mom. It is the hardest job ever, but the perks are amazing. (Assuming your boss doesn't already hug and kiss you all the time.)

There is no way in hell I would post pictures of me in my bathing suit!

We Mormons have to make up for the lack of coffee and alcohol somehow. ;-)

Always get a kick out of your blog. Keep it up!

This here Canadian is hoping she is included in the cool category...
Oh, and Mamacita, the Bag Lady can drink any Aussie under the table, any day, with one arm (and without throwing up!!)...what a skill, eh?

POM, you are hereby declared an honourary Canadjun, 'cause the Bag Lady thinks you are pretty cool, too!

What about drinking a Molson in your bathing suit picture, eh?

Blogging taught me to think creatively every day. It's tough to come up with new, interesting material each day.

Keep up the great work. The 6 month mark of a blog is when it starts to get tough.

Can't....write...choked up by all the nice Canadian comments ...

Blogging has taught me that half the fun of writing is being READ.

Best of luck on the race, POM!

shoot you are giving me shout outs left and right these days! Thanks.

And word #10... you know I know that is the damn truth! I am always amazed at how many comments any of my dumb fashion posts get... people cannot wait to give you their opinion!
